A paranormal investigation agency with a psychic is not a new concept, but Sophia Catlett makes it feel fresh with a believable protagonist with an interesting back story which is revealed in small enough increments to make the reader curious to see more. Allison has much rich history behind her that affects her present in unexpected ways, from paranormal events and adult relationships, and how the two can cross each other. Her ghostly friend Greg is an excellent example- dead but still jealous of any relationship Allison has with living men.

The pace of the story is fast, and the dialog moves the plot along. I was hooked almost from the start. I liked how the book ended- a little disappointed that everything didn't wrap up. That's a good thing because it left the field wide open for the next book in the series.
The only criticisms I have are that Allison tended to step back just a little too much. She has such a dynamic, independent personality that sometimes when she steps back from relationship situations, it doesn't really mesh with how her character was developed. Also the relationships she has begin a little too quickly, but perhaps that is also part of her charm. I found it believable with a bit more development it would really gel, especially with her friendship with Emily.
The descriptive passages are well crafted, and with a little editing for repetition could really shine. I truly liked this book, and plan on reading the next book in this series.
