Great story, wasted ending

Great premise and style - wasted ending
While the story itself was more than entertaining I wouldn't have minded a less abrupt ending - maybe he could have kept his fake collar instead of trowing it away and he could have forced himself to join the herd, gradually giving up on any dream of rebellion. Then again it is my taste for depressing stories and dark humor talking. Overall a really good piece that spun an overused concept in a new way and an interesting, relatable main character.

Fast but good

The religion metaphor might be a bit too "in your face" but it fits the absurd atmosphere of the story - the idea of two strands of a zombie infestation fighting each other is another interesting spin.
I found very interesting the idea of a machine capable of making you work while unconscious very intriguing, it reminds me of Paul Watts's book "echopraxia", where soldiers are enhanced with a "zombie switch" to be more effective in combat.

Enjoyable story as always.
