The First She Review
I AM ENTERING THE CONTEST. :)
Read the story now
This story is definitely in my top 5 favorites stories on Inkitt. The authors writing style and plot keep you reading. I love how readers, including myself, are always trying to guess what happens next- I think we will all be severely devastated when this book is finished. I am in love with the characters and I appreciate how "down to Earth," lol, more like "down to Ezron," the main character is. This book makes me smile. The only thing that could make it so much better is if it updated 3 chaps a week instead of 2. Overall, a great story that I would recommend.
(I AM ENTERING THE CONTEST).
The first she has diverse characters and a plot that keeps you hooked. I noticed that strings of dialogue only ever add to the storyline (trying not to spoil anything). While there is the occasional (but rare) typo or minor issue, even published stories with editions in HARDCOVER have those things sometimes and it does NOT take away from the beauty of the story.
Delving into the book- in the beginning, Kira could be seen as the unromantic type or even the uptight type from afar. The reason is that she's cautious because of her past. Being transported to an alien planet so that she can fall in love and save their species is exactly what she needed. At first, she meets Vrox, who she thinks is an uncivilized, uncultured brute. But Kira learns, even with the exterior of a serious language barrier separating their worlds (not to mention, Vrox does not even know she is a female), that men are not always horrible or selfish or anything like that. In fact, they are (or can be) loveable and loving, intelligent, successful, and more. Vrox and Kira's romance and adventure grow and thrive. New characters are added into the mix. Emotions are running wild, much like the men of Ezron. I'll spoil no more. :)
There are so many good themes in this book. And the fact that it's going to be a series only makes the reader more excited. It's a humorous, sci-fi romance- a sizzling, laugh-out-loud page-turner. Most of all, it's written so beautifully and thoughtfully, it will seriously make you laugh, bite your nails, cry, an' all that good, emotional stuff. The characters are real and endearing, much like the author. I can't say enough good things about this book. This author could be publishing books left and right but she is sharing them with us and even pushing through despite acts of plagiarism against her/her work. We praise you and your book tremendously, Ancient! :)
Why I rated it the way I did:
The plot is not complicated like a mystery or anything, no, but it STILL keeps you wanting more, keeps you wondering and biting your nails in anticipation. As for writing style, this book has moved me (in many different directions too). Many people just can't handle writing as an art form- they're either too heavy-handed with their fluff, or too bland, or to slow, etc- but The First She has an almost indescribable style about it. It's ethereal at the right moments, deliciously humorous, and even sizzling at others. I know a good writing style when I read it, props to you Ancientt. Technical skills were almost always on par BUT, nobody is perfect. Thank you for a satisfying read.
Why others should read this book:
For enjoyment and enlightenment, for humor and for inspiration, for so many other reasons, I highly encourage you to read The First She- the (so far) best book on this whole darn app.
