Chapter 1
Cole P.O.V
I couldn’t breath. My heart beat was ten times faster, and so was Sam’s. And then we both realised. “Mate.” We said in unison.
How could this happen? How is it her? Why did this happen? I had all these questions, floating around in my head.
We stared at each other, it felt like an eternity. Those blue beautiful eyes, looking into my grey eyes.
For a second, I forgot that there was anyone else in the room. “Just breath.” My mother said. And I didn’t realise, how long I was holding it for. Sam slowly started walking down the stairs again. Towards me. I was frozen, I didn’t know what to do, I was glued to the spot. We kept eye contact the whole time, until, she reached me.
“Umm....er.....ma.....ummm.” I tried to say something but that’s all I could get out. Sam started chuckling lightly. “Hey.” She said reaching out, lightly touched my shoulder. But she gasped and pulled back, when she touched me, I felt electricity shoot through me.
‘Did she feel that too?’ I asked Stan.
‘Probably.’ He said laughing.
“What was that?” Sam asked.
“I.....ummm.” I still couldn’t say anything.
I then realised everyone was watching us. “Okay everyone, head out the back. There’s cake out there.” Mum said redirecting everyone outside. Sam and I didn’t move.
“So.” I said.
‘Finally, I said something.’ I cheered. Stan laughed.
“So.” Sam said.
“You look beautiful.” I said, scratching the back of my neck.
“Thanks. You don’t look that bad either.” She joked. She giggled, I smirked.
“Do you think they knew?” We said in unison again. We started laughing.
“Yep.” We said popping the ‘p’.
“Do you want to get some cake?” I asked, extending my arm.
“Sure.” She smiled, taking my arm I felt the electricity strike through me again. My shoulder was still tingling, from where she touched before.
We came outside, and there on a table was a cake that was designed to be in the shape of a wolf. Below that was a smaller cake with 18 on it. The wolf cake had red eyes and white frosting.
“Wow, this looks amazing.” Sam said as she saw it.
“Thank you, all of you, so much. I love everything.” Sam thanked everyone.
“Okay, did you know about this?” Sam asked Zaya, Leo, Hannah and Mum. About us being mates. I still couldn’t believe it. Sam was still holding onto my arm. They all looked at us innocently. And said. “What on earth do you mean?” They tried to hide back their laughter, but it didn’t work.
Later on I had went around, to everyone individually and I introduced Sam. They all loved her. “Hello Luna.” David one pack member greeted Sam. She looked shocked.
“Umm, actually. I need to talk to Cole about something very important, so I’ll catch up with you later.” Sam said pulling me aside. “Of course, Luna.” David said bowing.
Once we were alone, she let go of my arm. And looked up at me. “Cole, I still don’t want to be called Luna. It just doesn’t feel right. I can’t I just.....can’t.” She admitted.
“Well if your my mate and I’m Alpha then that’s what you’ll be.” I said.
“No, I’m not a Luna, I’m an Alpha.” She stated raising her voice a little bit.
“Yeah, well, I am your mate.” I said, now raising my voice.
“Well if I have to put my title aside as Alpha and change to Luna. To be with you, then maybe I don’t want to be with you.” Sam started yelling, her eyes changing colour.
Everybody could probably hear us right now, but I didn’t care. “You don’t know what your saying.” I screamed, my eyes would be changing right now too.
“Yes, I do. Just because your my mate, doesn’t mean I’m going to drop everything for you.” She screamed back. That hurt. Damn this mate bond. I didn’t reply.
Sam P.O.V
I could see the hurt, in his eyes. To see him hurt, made me feel hurt. He didn’t reply. “Just leave me alone.” I said, storming off and pushing his shoulder with mine.
“Sam, you can’t do that.” He called out.
“Watch me.” I growled as I kept walking to the clearing and behind a tree. I got out of my clothes and shifted.
I ran for a few kilometres. Before I felt a huge pain in my stomach. But I pushed forward. It become stronger and stronger. I could smell Cole coming, he was chasing after me.
“Sam, stop.” He screamed, it sounded like he was in physical pain too.
“No.” I screamed back.
“Do you feel that pain?” He asked. I halted.
“How did you know?” I asked.
“When you try to run away from your mate, it doesn’t just mentally hurt it hurts physically as well. And it doesn’t just hurt one of us it hurts both.” He said finally catching up.
“Don’t come any closer.” I said turning away.
“Why?” He asked, softly.
“Because, one part of me is telling me to accept being Luna and the other part of me is telling me to reject you for being Alpha.” I said quietly. In the corner of my eye, I seen him take a few steps back.
“Please, don’t reject me.” He whispered.
