Book Two School Friends - Introduction.
Jamie Faulkner is, what some people would call, a handsome guy bordering on the pretty boy look. With his alluringly dark eyes and athletic prowess, he always drew the attention of the opposite sex. He is of mixed English Caribbean blood and sported a head of wild hair that many Jamaicans would be proud of. He is the gang joker, and often comes up with a witty line, joke, or saying. He’s affectionately known as Shrimpy. Some of the more junior boys at school thought it was just because his father was a fisherman, but in truth it was because he, allegedly, was not very well endowed. The lack of size of his manhood became public knowledge a couple of years ago when, after a particularly muddy cross country run, he was spotted in the communal showers. Although he insisted that his member had now grown, the others still called him Shrimpy, or Shrimps, as no-one had seen it since.
Harry Hainault, ‘Aitch’, is dark haired, and fair skinned, with piercing bright blue eyes. He is lanky and tall, and plays in the centre half position of the school football A team. He would often have his cousin, Jason, in tow at practices and games. Harry had been at junior school with Marty and Olivier, and although they had been friends, they had not been that close until they came up to senior school, and it was football that had brought them together.
Miquel Rodriguez, ‘San’, is the self appointed ‘ladies man’ of the group. He is dark haired and olive skinned, although born in the UK his parents are from a village just outside Barcelona in Spain. He acts as if he was the bee’s knees as far as the girls are concerned. He often boasts about the girls from the school opposite that he has, allegedly, ‘had’, and is always preening, and looking at himself in any mirror to hand. He is good at most sports, but he never excelled at any.
William Kitchen, he prefers to be called Will, but is just called ‘Sink’ by the rest of the gang. He is a tallish lad, with an unruly mop of ginger hair, and a ruddy complexion. He has a gentle, kind and sunny disposition, along with a generous nature, which apparently is not usually a common trait for a Scotsman. Still, it is all these attributes, along with his gentle Scots accent that make him hugely popular with everyone. He is most definitely the brightest, and most technically creative member of the gang and is undoubtedly the ‘Thinker’ in the group. He is often the stabilising influence when tempers get frayed. He is also the goalkeeper in the football B team.
Callum Able is a new boy at school that term that joins the gang on his first day after moving from a private school. He is a very good looking and smartly dressed boy and coming from a private school has good manners and is very cultured. Callum carries a secret that he hides from them all. By striking up a close friendship with Marty and Sun it causes him to have problems with Olivier.
Jason is not really a member of the gang but as Harry's cousin he is often around and looked after by everyone. Sadly for Jason he is not quite the full ticket, he is what people called slow, rather than simple, and is a complete liability in keeping any secrets. No secret was safe with him. It wasn’t that he was a gossip, or one for telling tales. It was just the fact that he was completely honest with everyone about everything. It was something he couldn’t help, as it was a form of autism. Jason had changed schools last summer, as he was being badly bullied because of his simple disposition, and nerdy looks, and had needed a safe haven. Harry looked out for his younger cousin and had introduced him to the others and, while the gang teased Jason, they only did so amongst themselves and always (hopefully) in a joking manner. Anyone else said anything however, and the gang closed ranks and rallied round in support.
