Chapter 1
“You bastard!” I screamed as the building became engulfed in angry, red flames, “Why did you set the building on fire!?”
“Because it needed to be redecorated. The colour scheme was horrible,”
“While we were still inside?” I said, screaming and jumping away from the flames trying to burn my skin.
“Yes, well it’s too late to think about that,” He said.
“You think!” I said, pushing him, “My God, why don’t you ever think anything through!?”
“It seemed like a good idea at the time,” He sighed, “So, shall we tango to the exit or shall we-”
“Ow!” I hissed as a flame tried to get me, “If we get out of here, I am going to kill you!”
“As if I would let you kill me,” He scoffed, “Did you want to hold my hand or?”
“Don’t touch me!” I said stomping away from him, trying not to choke from the heavy black smoke that had slowly started to swamp the room, “You are a crazy bastard,”
“Thank you,” He said, grabbing my hand, “We should probably move faster. I can hear the ceiling start to cave in,”
I glared at him as he pulled me after him with a calm face. As if he didn’t just set the building alight with us still in it. I still had to find out how the heck someone like him could become one of the most dangerous men around.
He was a complete idiot!
“Can you swim?”
I coughed and nodded, “Is this a time to ask?”
“Well, yes,” He said looking at me, “Because we are about to go for a swim,”
“What?” I said.
“We are going to do something that only superheroes do,” He grinned widely at me, “We are about to jump through that window and into the water below. I am so excited,”
“Wait, wait, wait!” I said as he tried to push me through the window, “There is at least a metre between the concrete and the window! We are also on the third floor,”
“Oh,” He frowned, “Better take a running jump then,”
“And get cut by the glass?”
He sighed, “Did you want me to break the glass for you?”
“Yes!”
“You are a troublesome woman,” He said shaking his head. He grabbed a chair and smashed the window, getting rid of the shards to make it less dangerous to jump out of, “Ladies first, unless you want more of your hair singed,”
I gasped, “My hair is singed?”
“We are in the middle of a fire. What else would you expect?”
“I am so going to kill you,” I said under my breath and I bit into my lip, “Shit. I can’t jump! I don’t like it,”
He grabbed my hand and grinned widely at me, “Remember to hold your breath before we land in the water,”
“Huh? Wait I’m not-” I screamed as he jumped from the window, dragging me with him. We splashed into the water and I struggled for a few moments to get to the surface. I spluttered and took a big gasp of air and he was laughing at me.
“That was so funny!” He laughed, “You should have seen your face!”
“I hate you so much!”
