Dark and intriguing

I absolutely adore the concept of this story, and would gladly read more of it. While some mysteries do enhance the quality of the story, I think that you could definitely continue to write snippets of the circus, or perhaps in more detail cover the aftermath of its visits.
Whatever you decide to do, this is a very enjoyable piece of writing, which draws you into this spine-chilling world.

Absolutely incredible!

I'm a sucker for westerns as it is, but combining spooky supernatural elements with it? That makes the concept, for me, ten times better!
This could easily be the prologue to a far bigger, more complex story, and it honestly left me wanting to know more. All the while I was reading this, I wanted to know more. The author has a way of creating tantalising morsels within this that create so many possibilities for which way the story might go.
I enjoyed seeing through Scarlett's eyes, I found her occupation especially interesting.
I also enjoyed the mentions of minor characters, it made the story all the more believable. I was even holding my breath towards the end!

A beautiful story

This story is lovely. All of the different relationships you've included within this are wonderfully depicted and very genuine.
It works perfectly as a standalone, and is quite breathtaking to read.
I felt fully immersed in the world that you created, and I didn't want it to end.
