Mildly chaotic. Fiercely approachable.

Songbird

I am not a big reader of literary fiction but this first chapter is a delight. The beautiful, coiled narrative and brooding imagery transcend the page as we read from inside Wren's head, detracting herself from the officious conversation between her father and the priggish headmistress. The smell of old books and even older wood are tangible in the authors self assured writing.
A couple of instances where the phrasing stumbles a little but its not a distraction and these are very rare...
A lovely writer and a very strong style.

intriguing

Writing a good story is hard. Writers are tortured souls - tied to their project like a rack of bearable agony. Sammy can tell a story. Wicked Games is proof of that. Its a long way from finished, both in content and grammatic level, but the story is absolutely intriguing. I found myself quickly absorbed in a carefully unravelling tale of innocence in blossoming friendship and an under current of tension and danger which the author conveys with confidence.

Initial thoughts

I only read the prologue and a little of the opening chapter. so I cant give reflective star ratings but I'm pretty certain they'll be 4s and 5s. This young author has a tremendous future, in my opinion.
Beautifully crafted narrative, strong visual imagery and a keen dialogue.
Very rich strong and robust storytelling, and I'm very much looking forward to reading the rest of this.
Great writer.
