Hey y'all! Now that I've got some longer pieces published that have received enough readership to display analytics, I'm trying to figure out how to interpret the "Reads Per Chapter" line graph.
I notice the first 1-2 chapters usually receive the most reads, which makes sense, as anyone not grabbed by the premise would stop reading after that point. But for my two longest stories, I notice these odd valleys over the remaining chapters. One chapter may receive only 1-2 reads, then the next two
... See Moreget 3-4, then another 1-2, then another 3-4.
What does this indicate? Is that where people took a break from reading and then came back, creating an additional "read" on certain chapters? And as these numbers don't seem to suggest total number of reads per chapter, is this an average of all readers?
This kind of tool is definitely super helpful for seeing how effective my pacing is based on reader engagement, but I've gotta know how to read the chart, first.
