Review of "Chaos" Chapter 4

I want to start this off by stating that I do not consider myself to be a fan of greek mythology itself. However, the author's writing style and dialogue between characters has me hooked! I am excited to see more about how the relationships within the story will develop! I did notice a few grammatical errors here and there, but nothing that distracted from my understanding of the plot. I cannot wait to read on! :)

Review of "Amina" Chapter 1

I really enjoyed the first chapter in this story. I appreciate how the main character Amina comes from a non-eujocentric culture, therefore her only concept of marriage being a ticket to freedom. I empathize with her emotions on how she is treated by her mother, feeling as if she does not love her - only wants her to get married so she can be rid of her. I cannot be sure, but something tells me that is not true. Yes, there are grammatical errors throughout as English is not the author's English language so they do not bother me that much in this case. Overall I think this was a great opening chapter and cannot wait to read on!

Review of "Stuck in Between" Chap 1

Even though there is only one chapter of this story published at my time of writing this, I am very excited to see what happens next. Due to the incident that happened with Liv and her dad, I empathized and routed for the rest of her story to play out in her favor instantly. I am not sure if the "cutie werewolf" that she encounters is just a figment of her imagination or if what happens toward the end of this chapter is supposedly real. Overall, great job Kara and Saamiah! Can't. wait to read on!

Review of "The Places From Where We Come" Chap 1

Hi Sophie! Even though there is only one chapter published of this story I am quite excited to see where it goes. I quite enjoyed the interactions between the characters Paola and Aitiana. I also appreciated how you included a bit about why Aitiana is so passionate about hurricanes to begin with. I am excited to read on as more is published and watch the development of their budding friendship/relationship! Great start! :)

Review of "A Potential Suitor"

I am currently on chapter 11 and am very much enjoying the story so far! The main character Amelia has a personality that is really growing on me. Her lack of confidence resonates with me. From what I have read, I hope that Blake's hardened exterior softens more as the story unfolds and that he becomes more delicate with Amelia as the story unfolds. Overall, I really like the protagonist and hope the best for her as the story plays out! Excellent job Natalie!

"Brown Eyed Heaven" Chap 1 Review

Even though I am only on chapter one I am already excited for what is next for protagonist Paige. I love that the story is set in a town that exudes black excellence. Something that really stuck out to me was the way that the author described African American hairstyles. I wonder what the relationship between Paige's mom and dad is like? Amazing start, I cannot wait to read on!

"Everybody Loves Josh Bennett" - Chap 1: great start!

The author's writing style makes the dilemma that the protagonist faces hit home so well! There are a few minor typos throughout this chapter, but nothing that detracted from my understanding of the story. Something tells me that the conflict will not go away as easily as Josh expects it to - by moving himself back home to Manchester. Can't wait to read on!

"Devils Angel" Chapter 1 Review

I am certainly excited to read the rest of this book! I like the tone that the author sets for the main protagonist and the writing style as well as the tense that it is written in. I wonder what "favor" Mr. Woodsten is referring to? Great start! Can' t wait to read on :)

Review of "The Forbidden Island" Chapter 1

I really like the cover art of this book! It sets a good tone for the story. I also appreciate the concept behind it. This chapter does have a few typos in it, but nothing that distracts from the story. I also noticed that the author uses mostly lowercase which I thought helped the book stand out a bit. I cannot wait to see where this goes :)

Review of "Walls Around Us" Chapter 1

I greatly enjoyed the first chapter of this anthology! I really liked how the author explained the meaning of each line of the poem at the conclusion of it, to ensure that the reader walks away with a message. My favorite line from the chapter reads as follows: "The one who denies to try/Will only get the achievement when pigs will fly,/ Remember fighting foot and nail,/ Will only provide many opportunity's mail./ Hard work is the key to success/ As the beads are the beauty of the dress. " Can't wait to read on!

"Killer" Chapter 1 Review

I really enjoyed the plot and execution of the first paragraph! I loved the author's use of descriptors when describing the stadium. My favorite part of this chapter was the encounter between Alimedia and Arrkam. Also, the author did a really great job of setting up the amazing and peaceful life that her character has through her interactions with her family so that the reader will feel emotion when things change. (Side note: there are a few typos here and there but they're nothing too serious and did not affect my understanding of the story at all.) Overall, great start!

Review of Chapter 1 of Highway 68

I really enjoyed the first chapter of this story. Something that really struck out to me was having the main character herself narrate the story, making the tone feel more real. Without spoiling anything for anyone, the mix of the character trying to help herself remain calm and the plot twist makes me excited for the rest of her journey. Definitely a great start!

Review of The Wrong Train Prologue and Chapter 1

I was immediately hooked into the story due to the author's use of prose within the prologue which makes the reader sympathize with the protagonist. It helped me to better understand the character's mannerisms in chapter 1 and root for her. Sophie just wants to stay out of trouble and not be mischievous. However, it seems to be attracted to her just as much as she is attracted to it. The author's use of the word "behave" (a constant reminder that the character tells herself), really hammers the tone of the story home. I hope things look up for Sophie as I further progress within the story.
