Outstanding
This book is highly underrated. While the ending was sad, it was also uplifting and satisfying.
10 brilliantly contrasts between Simone's depressed and sometimes angry perspective to Joy's optimistic, motivating outlook. Throughout the entire course of the book you hear Simone's struggles with depression and anxiety (towards the end), which makes her character very relatable to the audience. Joy, (whose name was very symbolic to her character) served as her comforter, encouraging her during a very dark period of Simone's life.
At the very end, all conflicts were resolved. Simone's pain had ended, and she starts a new, happier chapter of her life, and thanks Joy, since only her comforting, encouraging letters were able to help her through the struggles. The very last chapter shows only one letter, from Joy, and reveals the reason for the title: 10, and the reader knows that Joy, too, in the end, found peace.
Overall, this book was outstanding, exceeding all expectations, brilliantly written and highly underrated. I would recommend it to anyone.
