Whether you’re following the advice of Bryan in our Bootcamp or participating in NaNoWriMo 2018, we encourage you to submit your novels chapter by chapter throughout November so that you can get feedback from your fellow writers and readers while you work. Our Novel Writing Contest offers a fantastic community for you to connect with other authors and seek motivation during your novel-writing journey.

    Contest Terms

  • Accepting new, in-progress original works
  • Submissions close on November 30th, but voting will continue for an additional week
  • All stories must be rated appropriately by their authors and authors should be at least 13 years old.
  • Before submitting a story be sure to check our guidelines page to ensure that you comply with our publication rules.
  • Only novels over 50,000 words will be eligible to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.
  • Only novels newly started this November will be accepted. Previously written books will be disqualified from the contest.
  • The winner is going to be determined by Inkitt based on reader engagement, with votes also counting for 20% of the final decision
  • You must own all rights
  • No entry fee
  • All genres except fan fiction accepted
  • Novels must be in English
