Impressive!

(Based on a reading of the prologue and chapter one)

The prose is repetitive (mostly because of how simple it is) but it serves it's function well and does not detract much from the story.

The plot is the main selling-point of this book. There is a wealth of historical characters and events, all of whom are significant and carry an individual character. The big-picture and the details are accounted for equally (though not so much in the prologue). The effects of Gurzil on these lands is portrayed in an extremely realistic manner, and the actions of his followers all have equally realistic consequences.

Overall, this is great read and I would recommend it to fans of historical fiction and fantasy.

Satisfactory

Really good short story. The prose is simple and effective. The character of Miguel (sorry if I spelled that name wrong) is interesting. One particular highlight for me was how Rick's office was described. It was vivid and gave us a real sense of place.

Apart from these strengths, the story also has a few weaknesses. I found a handful of spelling errors. I thought the conversation between Rick and Miguel should have been in direct speech (or atleast a part of it) but I also understand the desire to make the story brief.

Overall, I enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it to readers who like slice-of-life stories.

Interesting

(This review is based on a reading of the first six parts)

The plot is extremely interesting. It leaves us with enough at the end of each chapter to satisfy us but there's also an overarching mystery to it all that is peeled off bit by bit masterfully. The characters are well-rounded. The dialogue is meaningful and also contains crucial information to the story. The chapters are short as well which makes for a great reading.

Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gore-filled mystery with an interesting plot.

Exactly what I was looking for!

It is pretty short, and there is not much of a plot or any characterization to be found, but it's just the kind of writing Inkitt needs more of. It's original in its premise and leaves a lot of room for interpretation. It's concise and clear in its imagery, and I particularly love the sense of unrestrained imagination I get out of it. And I would recommend it to readers who want to read something different.

Spectacular!

(Based on a reading of the first three parts)

The plot is engaging. The characters are instantly recognizable and they feel real. The world they inhabit is quite interesting and the mystery surrounding them—although familiar—is enjoyable nonetheless.

One particular thing that struck me about this story was how well-defined the tone was. It was light-hearted, but the characters still acted mature enough. Almost from the first chapter, I could tell that this was different from the other stories I've read here, as I could feel that the author knew what they wanted from this story and knew how to tell it. It has an identity of its own that is appealing and has the potential to attract a wide audience.

Overall, I quite enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to fans of short, light-hearted mysteries.

A hidden gem

(Based on a reading of the first two parts)

The prose is good. I didn't find any technical errors or words that seemed misplaced. I also thought the paragraphs were separated really well because of how varied they were in their lengths.

The plot was interesting. It was familiar, but because of the pace and the unique world, it had enough originality. The characters were well-defined and their emotions were well-expressed and fitting to them.

Overall, I liked it and would recommend it to fans of fantasy short stories.

Unique

Good collection. I'm not that knowledgeable about poetry, so I can't go too deep into the technical stuff, but still, I was able to notice a few things: the use of metaphors was quite effective; there were short as well as longer pieces, giving a nice variety to the entire book; the themes were relatable and dealt with with sensitively.

Overall, it was a good read.

Enjoyable!

(Based on a reading of the first seven parts)

The prose is simple but there is a wealth of vocabulary and well-placed words scattered throughout. (Though I did find a few grammatical errors in the later parts.)

The plot is interesting, though not without a few shortcomings. Mainly, they centre around the pace. Events move by very quickly and there is a lot of information packed in a single chapter which is hard to digest because of how short the chapters are.

Other than that, the characters are interesting and the underlying-mystery of the story is well put-together.

Overall, I would recommend this to fans of fantasy mysteries who are looking for a quick read.

Superb!

Out of all the books I've read here on Inkitt, this one has the most cohesive prose structure. It's simple but the voice is very well-defined. It's easy to go through and never loses it's flow.

The plot (from what I've read in chapter one and small portion of chapter two) is interesting. The blend between the normal life of our protagonist and their extraordinary abilities is really well done. Information is partitioned in an effective way and it never seems that the normality of our protagonist is being sacrificed for exposition (though that is not to say there is no exposition at all).

Overall, I would say this is a well-written story and exactly the sort of thing Inkitt needs more of.

Good Potential

(This review is based on a reading of the first chapter)

It was well-written and engaging. There were a few sentences here and there that were somewhat confusing (of whom I have pointed out one in detail in the comment I left) but overall, it was good. It had enough variety and a conscious effort towards perfecting the pace of the chapter was clear.

I cannot express my view on the plot (because I have only read a small portion of the story) but I will say that it was interesting, although the chapter is not self-contained and requires more elaboration.

Overall, it was a worthwhile read. I would recommend it to fans of adventure and mystery.

Well written

(My review is based on a reading of the first four chapters)

The prose is amazing. It's simple yet does a great job in conveying the meaning. The characters are natural and their dialogue is the same. The plot moves with a steady pace but I believe from the ending of chapter four that some exciting and unexpected things are waiting for the reader. Overall, a great book that I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a light-hearted quick read.

Amazing!

A great book with much to offer and even though I have only read a small portion of it (specifically the prologue, chapter 1 and chapter 2) it still does not hinder my ability to see its strengths. From its sophisticated language to the fluidity of the paragraphs, the prose is simply amazing. Quite possibly the greatest quality of it. The plot, though there is little for me to discuss, still retains a traditional structure and makes use of the multi-perspective extremely well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and I would highly recommend it as well.
