I mean, if you didn't know that Merry's cousin saw one, the scene is just baffling. If you DO know that, you're wondering why on earth Merry is keeping it from Treebeard. Agh.)

Should note first that you've got at least one missing apostrophe (in the word "singer's") and the story got stuck in italics early in.
