The morning dawned, and the scale of destruction was evident. Joe himself was on the scene, looking over the damage and cursing the names of anybody involved. Vinnie was working the contacts as hard as he could, but even the FBI contact was at a dead end. Nobody could tell the business head why his establishments had been targeted. And that made Joe Fragale furious. Because nobody crossed Joe Fragale and walked away from it. Nobody.
Joe paced his office. The business had taken a massive hit today, and he wanted to know why. Why had those places been targeted? Vinnie shoved his way into the room, not even bothering to knock. “Boss, they think they know who it was.”
Joe turned to him. “This had better be good.”
Vinnie nodded. “The reports that came in from the police, some mentioned people in black. More than one report mentioned it.”
Joe scowled. “The ninjas? Why now?”
Vinnie shrugged. “I don’t know. They target us occasionally, but I don’t know why it’s been ramped up, unless…”
Joe nodded at the unfinished thought. “They are trying to distract us. Because we have something that belongs to them.”
Vinnie smiled. “I’ll set up the interview.”
