I sighed shakily and rubbed my sore neck as I looked down at Deric, who was sleeping beside me. He was on his side, facing me, his dark hair falling into his closed eyes as he breathed small, shallow breaths. His hand was on my knee. He had fallen asleep tracing it when I had told him to lay down for a while after Sebastian and Cam left.

When I had woken up, Deric’s brothers were gone, Drew and Lance were watching the news and Sebastian and Cam were getting things ready to go. They had been just about to wake me up so I could get ready too, but saw that I was awake.

“Hey Sammie.” Deric murmured as I slowly pushed myself up. He helped me sit and then touched my cheek. I leaned into his hand and closed my eyes with a sigh and then moaned as I touched my neck. “I’m sorry about that Baby. I didn’t know that he would at like that. When he has visions, he acts a little different. Normally not that bad, especially because he is very gentle by nature.” I smiled sadly and looked at him.

“It’s okay. Obviously, seers have different side effects to seeing visions.” He breathed a laugh and I swallowed. “Can I get some water please?” Drew got up before the rest of them could and went over to the sink. He grabbed a plastic cup that someone had bought and put some water in it, then brought it over to me. I thanked him quietly and drank some of it. My throat felt like sandpaper.

“So… I’m not completely sure what I am, but I am sure that It’s not normal, right?” I looked at Sebastian. “I mean, seriously, I have never heard of a witch being burned by silver.” I looked at Deric, who was looking at me with a raised brow. “Yeah, don’t think I forgot about that. Just because I haven’t asked about it or freaked again, doesn’t mean that I have forgotten about it.” He took my glass and drank a little of the water and I raised a brow at him now with a small smile. He winked at me and then set it aside on the bedside table.

“Well.” He said slowly. “I’m not sure what I can tell you without you… freaking out and honestly, I don’t think I need to just yet with the way you still are. I want to make sure that all that euphoric is gone before I tell you those things.” I watched him a moment.

“Was my mom a witch?” I asked quietly. “Because Dad is human.” He was quiet. I smiled a little and looked down. “Yeah, I figured as much. You know… I don’t even look like him.” Deric tensed. “I’ve never said it out loud, but I’ve suspected. And that day that I found you guys talking at the table about my mother…” I looked at Sebastian. “I don’t want to think that my mother would have done such a thing-“

“She murdered my family Sam.” I flinched as Lance spoke up from the couch. “Of course she would have the guts to cheat on your father.”

“Dad.” Deric breathed and I sighed. “Will you stop being such an asshole? I am so tired of you putting her down for something she didn’t do and didn’t even know about. She is not her mother.”

“Come on Sam. We need to get going.” Sebastian whispered. “I’m sure your Dad will answer any questions you have when we get there, okay.” I sighed, but nodded and slowly got up. Deric stood too and went over to the bookbags we had. He grabbed one and brought it over to me. “We have three hours.” Sebastian said. “Long enough for you to take a shower and get ready and for us to get there.”

“Okay. I’ll be out in a few minutes.” I said and walked over to the bathroom. I felt Lance’s eyes on me as I passed him and was a little worried he might just use his vampire speed and grab me and do something to hurt me, but I made it to the bathroom without him doing so. I closed the door and turned on the water before I stripped out of my clothes and got in.

When I was out, I wrapped a towel around myself and dug in my bag for clothes, only to yank my hand out with a painful hiss. I looked at my instantly bloody hand and then went over to the sink and started running the water over it.

“Sam?” Deric knocked on the door. “You alright?”

“Yeah.” I said quietly.

“I can smell blood.”

“I cut my hand on something in my bag while looking for clothes.” I said and pulled my hand out from under the water. “It’s kind of deep, will you get Sebastian for me?”

“Yeah.” He answered. A moment later, Sebastian knocked on the door and then came in. He closed the door, paused a moment and then grabbed my wrist. He pulled my hand out from under the water and looked at my still bleeding hand and then looked at me with a questioning look.

“I don’t know what it was, but something in my bag cut me when I was looking for clothes.” I told him. He put my hand back under water and then went to my bag. He started digging around in it and then pulled out a knife. I scowled. “How in the world did that get into there?”

“Drew.” He sighed and set it aside. “Be careful with that. It’s very deadly and as you can tell, sharp.” I nodded and then pulled my hand out once more. It wasn’t bleeding so much, so I turned off the water and grabbed a cloth sitting on the counter. I wrapped it around my hand and looked at Sebastian as he pulled out some clothes and set them aside before he grabbed my wrist again. He unwrapped my hand and looked it over with a scowl. “You got it good.” He sighed and then wrapped it up. “When you get out there, I will wrap it before we go.” I nodded and then went to my bag. I picked it up and something fell out of it as I set it on the floor. I looked down at my plane ticket and then picked it up. I glanced at it and then started to put it back in my bag…

Before I realized that it didn’t say today’s date.

“Um… Sebastian?” he was about to walk out, but he stopped and looked back at me. “We aren’t supposed to leave until tomorrow.” He scowled and shook his head.

“No. We are leaving today. October twenty-fourth.” I scowled and slowly handed him my ticket. He looked at me a moment before he looked down at my ticket, then his eyes shot back to me. “Why does this say the twenty-fifth?” he questioned.

“Like I’m supposed to know. You got them.” I told him and he just looked at me. He breathed shakily and then went out into the room, closing the door behind him. I heard Cam ask what was wrong and he started rummaging through things. I figured this might be the best time to get dressed and go out there.

I quickly put my black tank top and skinny jeans on, grabbed my cardigan, jacket, the dagger and backpack and headed out into the motel room, where Sebastian looked like he was going to go frantic about something. I set my stuff down and pulled my black shirt over my head. Sebastian looked at me worriedly and Deric spoke.

“You got them at the same time right?” he questioned and Sebastian nodded without even looking away from me.

“I’m not leaving without you Sammie.” He said quietly. “I don’t know how they got the dates different on our flights, but I am not leaving without you.” I sighed and ran my hand through my hair, then flinched. I looked at it and grumbled angrily as I watched blood well up again.

“I’m fine.” I muttered when Deric came over to me and grabbed my wrist. I looked up at him as he eyed my hand and I saw his eyes go a shade or two brighter than they had been. I breathed shakily and closed my hand. He looked at me and smiled softly before he reached up and stoked my hair back out of my face and then grabbed my chin, tilted my head up as he leaned down and kissed me. It was soft and sweet and short, but it was enough to knock the breath out of me.

“I’m okay.” He whispered when he pulled back. “I can stay in control when I smell blood.” I nodded and he kissed me again before he pulled back and looked down at my hand. “Hey Cam.” He turned to her. “Got any needles and something to sew up her hand. Preferably fishing wire or something like it. It’s deep enough it needs stitches.”

“Sorry.” She sighed. “Not this time.” He nodded.

“It’s fine. She’ll heal fast, I just wanted to make sure it will stay closed long enough to do so.” He looked up at me again. “What did you cut yourself on?” I pulled my hand away and went to the bed. I picked up Drew’s knife and then walked over to him.

“I do believe this is yours.” I told him and he raised a brow at me, then looked at Deric. He shook his head and Deric sighed when I scowled.

“Keep it.” He said. “I can’t weild it, but you might need it one day.” My scowl deepened. “It’s silver-“

“What?” I nearly dropped the blade before I realized it wasn’t burning me and he laughed a little.

“It’s a different type of silver.” He amended his statement. “The metal is the same as the kind that can burn you and vampires and werewolves, but it is… made specifically for you. I cannot touch it or it will burn me as you were able to tell with whatever silver burned you.” I didn’t understand, but Sebastian didn’t give me a chance to ask more questions.

“Okay, so silver knives that my sister can hold aside, we need to figure out what we are going to do, because it is too late to get another ticket and I’m not leaving my sister, so any sugestions?”

“Leave without me and Deric can get me there before you get there probably.” He looked at me shocked and then glared at me.

“What part of ‘I’m not leaving my sister’ did you not get Sam?” he questioned and I sighed. I went back over to my backpack and put the knife in one of the pockets so I wouldn’t cut myself again and then sat down on the bed.

“I understood it.” I said in a slightly annoyed tone. “But you need to think. I am almost twenty. I am here with my boyfriend/bodyguard and Drew and Lance. The danger of Lance killing me is slim to none, especially if he values his sons’ happiness and his life more than killing me. Not to mention, Deric probably won’t leave my side to even give him the chance, should he lose sight of that. And I know how to take care of myself at least a little. I can handle one day without you Sebastian.” This only seemed to make him angry.

“You’re crazy if you think I am going to leave you with a bunch of vampires-“

“No Sam!” I flinched and clinched my jaw. I looked down and thought a moment. He couldn’t miss his flight. I had to convince my brother that I would be okay just one day without him…

So I thought of something that was very crazy.

“Get Ortho on the phone.” I said and looked at Deric. He scowled, but nodded and pulled out his phone. He dialed a number and I held out my hand to him. He handed it to me and I put the phone to my ear. Ortho picked up pretty quick.

“What is it? Is she okay-“

“It’s me.” I said, ignoring the worry he obviously had for me, though I didn’t know why. “I have I favor to ask.” I told him.

“Sam?” he questioned and I sighed. He was quiet a moment and I was about to tell him that it was indeed me, but he questioned me now. “What is it that you need?”

“I need a way to get to a Scotland airport by tomorrow around the same time that my brother does. My ticket isn’t the same as his and Cam’s and my flight isn’t until tomorrow. Sebastian doesn’t want to leave me. Do you have any way at all to get me there?” he was quiet a moment.

“I could… but it’s a little difficult.” He said. “Teleportation is not the easiest thing to do, but I could get you there if I really needed to.”

“Teleportation is real?” I questioned. “Holy Mother of Cheese and Crackers.” Ortho started laughing and I cracked a smile as Deric did too. “That is cool.” I breathed a laugh. It really was cool. “So will you help me out… again?” I asked slowly.

“You trust me to help you?” he asked when he sobered up. I smiled sadly.

“Yeah. I’m still a little scared of everything you can do, but I trust you.” I told him.

“Alright.” He said. “I will do it.”

“Thank you Ortho. This means a lot. I owe you.” I said and then ended the call. I looked at Sebastian, who was pinching the bridge of his nose and clenching his jaw. “See. I can get there safely.” He sighed.

“Sebastian.” Cam touched his arm and he looked at her. His face instantly softened and I looked away. I was still upset she could do that to him. “It gives them one last chance to be together before they can’t even show it, because we both know that if your mother and her father found out about them, about us, they would be very angry. They are hunters and though you are my mate, and she is in love with my brother, they are hunters and hunters don’t take kindly to their own falling for the ones they hunt.” My brother sighed and looked down. “Give them this one night and we can have our own. Okay. Drew and Lance will be with them, so nothing will happen between them and we will be on a plane. Just… let them be together one more night before they can’t.” he seemed to actually think about it before he looked at her and smiled a little.

“Okay.” He whispered. He turned to me and smiled a little more. “Just because I am leaving you doesn’t mean that I won’t be here. You had better not do anything.” I rolled my eyes and stood. I went over to him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and he did the same to me.

“Be careful.” I murmured. “Text me when you get to the airport.” He nodded and then kissed the top of my head. “We will see you there, okay.” He sighed but nodded once more and then pulled back to look at me. “You best go on. You’ll miss your flight.” He looked at me a moment before he turned to Cam.

“Come on. We need to go.” She nodded and looked at me. She winked and I rolled my eyes. With a few more “goodbye’s” they left us alone in the room.

They were probably in the air right now and Sebastian was probably still a little upset that he had to leave me.

Now, Deric was asleep and Drew was sprawled out on the couch while Lance had gone out to feed.

I sighed and slowly, moved Deric’s hand. He breathed in a deep breath as he lifted his head to look at me. I looked down at him and smiled a little as I lased our fingers together—Deric had wrapped it after they left—and lay down beside him. I was tired myself and I wanted some sleep before we had to go. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close to his chest. He kissed my forehead and then rested his against mine.

“This is not how I wanted to spend my last night with you.” He whispered as I looked at his tired face.

“This is what you get for not getting enough sleep.” I smiled and he opened his eyes to look at me. He frowned as I moved my hand up his chest, up to his cheek. “You wear yourself out and I make you sleep.”

“But I don’t want to sleep.” He whispered. He sounded like a little kid getting told it was time for bed and I chuckled. I was glad that he didn’t want to sleep. I was glad he wanted to spend time with me on our last night together like this, I wanted him spend time with me, but I also wanted him to sleep because I was worried about him. I knew that he didn’t sleep much. The most sleep I was almost positive that he got, was when he drugged me, while drugging himself.

“Deric, you-“

“Go on a date with me.” I stopped and looked into his eyes at his sudden request.

“What?” I breathed out.

“Go on a date with me Sammie.” He touched my cheek and smiled a little. “Let me take you out for one normal night before we are thrown back into the supernatural.”

“I hate to break it to you Baby-“ he pulled my lips to his and stopped me again. I closed my eyes and smiled against his lips before he pulled away and then sat up. I lay there a second longer before I sat up too and stood. “Drew! Deric and I are going out!”

“You don’t have to you! I’m right here! I heard him!” I laughed a little as Deric came over and wrapped his arms around my waist. Drew sat up from his spot on the couch. He looked at us as Deric nibbled my ear and I giggled telling him to stop. Drew shook his head and lay back down. “Ortho said that he was going to be here around four so don’t stay out too early.” He sounded a little annoyed and my smile fell a little before Deric grabbed my chin and turned my face so he could kiss me. “Get on you two. I don’t want to witness anything you have planned. This is bad enough. Just don’t tell your brother I let you out of my sight with him Sam. He’ll kill all three of us.”

“No kidding.” I stated sarcastically. “We’ll be back soon.” With that, Deric started usuring me out of the motel room to wherever he was planning on taking me.
