Prolouge: Journal Entry

Things like this shouldn't be possible, nature could never produce- would never produce such abominations to walk this vast planet. I know what they are, but deep down I pray that I am wrong. These man-made terrors, whose actions could only be considered cannibalistic, could only be one thing. Zombies. Believe me, if you had seen half of the things that I've had the displeasure of witnessing you wouldn't hesitate to agree. I call them man made because I believe that the world's current problem with cannibalism stems from a virus. It seems logical enough to me given the facts that I've been presented with over the course of my journey. The world has become a much more simple place to live in, all you really need to know is the following; The walking corpses will try to eat you, people will try to kill you, and if you're bitten then you're infected.

It's not hard to understand the new rules of society, but it is depressing to think about. After all, it's only been two months since the end of the world. I've decided to record my experiences in this handy dandy looted notebook in the hopes that if I don't make it, someone else will remember me. Most of my family is already dead- hell, I saw my dad last week shambling about in the supermarket he used to work in- so if I die out here no one will know. If I become one of those monstrosities then no one will care. Not the most positive thoughts I've ever had, but it's better than shambling about craving brains. Anything that keeps me alive long enough to find my brother is more than welcome at this point. We were separated when things initially hit the fan, but I like to believe that he's still alive. By the sounds of the ghoulish moans drifting in on the wind my ever present fan club is getting closer. They seem to have found me once again, but they can't eat what they can't catch.
