Chapter Twelve

[Earl]

Matthias continued to kiss my neck while I just giggled.

“Stop it! Can’t you see I’m…” I gripped the knife when he sucked the crook of my neck sending sparks all over my body.

“Mhmm, you smell so good.” He nipped the skin and kissed it gently making me moan. I dropped the knife I was holding when his hand reached down below me, groping my crotch while his other hand massaged my nipple.

I bit my lips and unconsciously racked my body to his hand. “Matthias…”

DING DONG!

“God damn it.” Matthias hissed but never stopped attacking my neck. I tried to pull away but he’s just too strong when he’s freaking horny.

“Matthias, seriously!” I slapped his hands away and moved to the left. I laughed inwardly when I saw how dejected his expression was.

I walked to the door to see who was ringing the bell. I poked some buttons on the screen and I gasped when I saw Harry’s face on it.

I quickly opened the door and my eyes widened when I saw his face streaked with tears. “H-harry?! What the hell happened to you?!”

Harry stared at my face before breaking into a sob. “Earl!! I missed you so much!” He hugged me tight while crying and I can’t help but to just rub his back to comfort him.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I heard Matthias from behind me. Harry unlatched himself to me and ran towards Matthias to give him a bear hug. Too bad because Matthias stepped to the side, avoiding his deadly hug making him topple down on the floor.

Matthias rolled his eyes and walked back to the kitchen. I closed the door and neared Harry who sat up on the floor. His face was red, probably from the fall and the crying and he smells like…

I covered my nose in disgust. “Do you smell something…?” I asked him and he sobbed again.

“That’s probably me!” He wiped the tears with the back of his hand. Snot was coming out of his nose and I stop but to think how childish he still was. Not that I mind it since I like Harry for he who was.

“I haven’t had a bath ever since I arrived here in Italy!” He announced and that made me scrunched my nose.

“And how many days is that?” I asked.

He counted his fingers and pouted. “About a month or so?”

“You’ve been in Italy for a month?! What have you been doing?!” I asked frantically. No wonder he smells like shit.

Harry pouted even more and lowered his head in shame. “Picking up a fight or mugging someone.”

“Don’t you have a family here?” Since he’s from Matthias’ mafia family, I thought that maybe he’s also an Italian.

“Nope. My whole family moved to New York when I was just a kid.” He answered and I resisted the urge to slap myself.

“So, where are you staying now?” I asked. If he doesn’t have a family here, maybe he’s got some friends or someone.

“I’m homeless.” He answered shyly. “I just have my passport and some dollars with me here.”

“Are you serious?! What the hell are you thinking? Did you run away from home?!” I asked and he waved his hands.

“W-woah, calm down Earl!” He sighed and rubbed his messy hair. “Yeah, I ran away.”

“What? What for?” I saw Matthias moving inside the kitchen, probably helping himself to the pasta I just made. Heartless prick. His best friend’s here looking like some kind of hobo and he doesn’t even care.

I looked at Harry again. It’s true that he looked homeless. His pants were tattered, his shirt was dirty and his hair looks like a birds nest.

I sighed and helped him to stand up. “We’ll listen to your reasons later. But for now, just take a shower. You reek.”

Harry grinned at me. “Thanks a lot!” I made him follow me to the bathroom. I got some clean towels from the rack and put it on the counter. I watched him strip off his clothes and I can see some deep scars on his back. He probably got that from all those fights he had.

“I’m gonna take care of your wounds after you finish showering, okay?” I told him and he nodded in glee. I closed the door of the bathroom and heard the water from the shower turned on. I heaved a sigh and walked back to the kitchen to see Matthias drinking a can of beer.

“What’d he say?” He asked and I shrugged my shoulders.

“He said that he’s been here for a month without anything.”

Matthias groaned. “He’s such an idiot.”

“We have to make him stay here with us. He looks…disoriented.” I mumbled and Matthias just scoffed in amusement.

“Disoriented is not even the word to describe him.” He said as he finished the beer and tossed it on the trash can. “As much as I want to chit-chat with the moron – ” He stepped out of the kitchen and after a while, he got back with a coat in his hands. He put it on and looked at me. “ – I have a much rather important thing to do.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “Of course you do.” Probably some underground business again. I watched him put his guns beneath his coat and into the holster before buttoning it up.

Matthias walked towards me and put his index finger on my bottom lip, tracing it seductively. “I’ll have you for dinner.” He smirked.

I glared at him and watched him close the door of the house.

Hard to admit it but I’m kinda looking forward to dinner.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I remembered Harry was still showering. I figured that he might be hungry so I cooked him something else beside the pasta that we had.

Right after I finished cooking, Harry stepped in the kitchen. I turned to look at him but paled when I saw that he was naked.

“I wanna ask you where your clothes are.” He said innocently while running his hand through his wet hair.

I sighed and stomped towards Matthias’ room to get some extra t-shirt and pants. I tossed it at him and he silently thanked me. He put it on lousily.

I laid the plates with pasta on the table and blinked when Harry drooled after seeing the food. “Oh shit that looks tasty!!” He jumped to the chair and grabbed the fork. He gobbled the whole bowl of pasta in just a minute.

“Did you cook this?!” He asked and I nodded. “Wow! You’re so good! Can you teach me?!”

I blinked at him. “You wanna learn how to cook?”

Harry blushed a little before rubbing his nose. “W-well…it’s quite difficult to live alone when you don’t know how to cook.”

Live alone? “I thought you’re living with Edward?”

His face turned ash white as soon as I said Edward’s name. He frantically waved his arms like a kid in front of me. “It’s true that we’re living together before but…I moved out!”

“Huh? You did what?”

“Anyway! Can you teach me how to do this? Can you?” He pleaded and I just sighed and said that I’ll teach him a thing or two so that he can live without getting hungry. Why can’t he just hire a cook or something like that? I’m sure he has the money since he’s doing the same work as Matthias was.

But I still can’t believe he let himself walk around in the streets of Italy with nothing.

“So what’re you planning now?” I asked while I gathered the dirty dishes and put it on the sink.

Harry put his face on the table and sighed. “I guess I need to find some part time job.”

“How long will you stay here?”

“As long as I can.”

“Don’t you want to go back to New York?”

“No.”

I turned around to face him. “Does your family even know you’re here?”

“They don’t care.”

“How about my brother? Does he know where you are?”

He stayed silent and I sighed. I knew it. This thing about running away from home must have something to do with Edward. But to make Harry go to Italy like this which was thousand kilometres away from New York, it must be something serious.

“Matthias said he’ll let you stay.” Though he didn’t said that directly but what else can he do? Harry leaped in joy and I smiled.

“Thanks man, you’re the best.” He said.

I hung the phone and sighed. What a day. Dealing with a lot of stock holders and customers were making this job so hard. I stared at the window for a moment before Liza came in.

“Here’s the monthly finance report.” Liza said as she put the stack of folders on my table. I stared at it before sighing again.

“What’s wrong? You seem tired than usual.” Liza commented while taking a sit on the chair in front of me. I looked at her and cracked a smile.

“Kind of.” Well, the thing that was making me tired was thinking about Harry and Edward. What happened to them? No matter how much as I ask Harry, he won’t give me an answer.

“Hey, what would you do if you’re living with your boyfriend and you broke up?” I asked Liza who pursed her lips in thought.

“Hmmm, I guess I’ll have to move out and find a new place.” Liza answered. “That happened to me once and it was like hell to move on but I managed.”

I nodded. “Is that so…”

The intercom suddenly echoed and we both looked at it. “Mr Harrison, the director wants to see you.”

Liza smirked at me and I groaned.

“Looks like your boyfriend wants you.”

“Yeah, I can tell.”

After hearing the summon, I immediately climbed the executive’s floor. When I arrived at Matthias’ office, I opened the door without even knocking and I saw him sitting on his table while two men were in front of him.

“Oh…sorry. Excuse me.” I closed the door again and slapped myself mentally. Why do I have the habit of not knocking every time I go to his office?

Few minutes later and the two men left his office. I waited for a moment before entering.

“You called for me?” I asked him and he nodded. He pinched the bridge of his nose and heaved a long sigh. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I just wanna see you.” He muttered and I glared at him.

“You are aware that I have a work as well, right?”

Matthias scoffed and moved around his table to get to his chair. “Yeah, I knew you finished your work hours ago.”

Freaking stalker. I sat on the chair and stared at him. Maybe he’s stressed about Harry’s as well? I know that deep inside, he’s also worried about him.

Maybe?

“Matthias…about Harry – ” I stopped when he leaned on his chair.

“I already called my men to take him back.”

“What?”

“He can’t stay here much longer. He’s the one handling the gang now.”

“I thought you didn’t want him to take over.”

“I don’t have much choice, do I?”

I shrugged my shoulders. He has a point.

“But shouldn’t we know what happened to him first?”

Matthias looked away. “Don’t care.”

I glared at him. “You’re such a bastard.”

“It’s his fault for whatever happened to him.” He looked at me and I gulped. “And I don’t want you interfering with whatever business he had.”

I stood up from my chair. “Sure, I’ll just do that. Oh wait, I can’t do that. Because he’s my freaking friend.”

Matthias rolled his eyes. “I’m telling you to mind your own business – ” His eyes widened and quickly dodged the incoming random object that I threw at him. He stood up with a slam while glaring at me. “Are you nuts?!”

“Maybe? You seem to forget that Harry was the one person who helped me when you left, you fucker!”

I can feel the anger slowly consuming me. I can’t believe he’ll say something like this. I still want to help Harry in any possible way that I can. And this so-called idiot named Matthias was telling me not to get involved. How heartless can he be?!

I gave him one last glare before marching out of his room.

“Hey Earl, come back here you brat!!”

I bit my lips and lashed him another random object. He evaded it as well and threw curses at me.

“I believe you forgot that I’m two months older than you, BRAT!” I slammed the door of his office and stomped away.

“Uh Earl…are you sure it’s alright to just leave like that?” Harry asked me as he stepped in the cab. I crossed my arms and nodded.

“Of course.” I’ll do everything to help him. The driver looked at me and I told him my house address. Minutes of driving through the road, we finally arrived at my apartment. I gave the man his money and exited the cab with Harry right behind me.

“I’m sorry for all of this, man.” Harry said while I open the door. I pulled a weak smile and turned around to face him.

“No worries. You’re one of my friends. It’s the least that I can do.” I said and he grinned at me.

I opened the door of my complex and let him enter first. He looked around and walked inside the living room. “You’ve got a nice place.” He commented even though I can tell how disappointed his face was. What do I expect? Like Matthias, he came from a rich family as well.

“You hungry?” I asked him. I walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge to take some left-overs.

“Nope, I’m good.” I saw him lied down on the sofa, with his arms up above his head.

I shrugged my shoulders and re-heated a piece of pizza.

I jumped when he suddenly screamed. “W-what’s wrong?!” I ran out of the kitchen to see if he’s okay. When I saw him grinning at me, I gave him a confused look.

“Are you alright…”

“Let’s go drinking!” He suggested and I gagged at what he said.

“What?” I rolled my eyes at him. “Are you serious? I have work tomorrow and…”

“Come on! Just this one time! Drink with me! Let’s go to a bar and give ourselves some party! Whaddya think?!” He asked in enthusiasm.

“Yeah right. And Matthias will just kill me tomorrow.” I said sarcastically.

“It’s gonna be alright! What’s the harm in having fun once in a while?” He pulled his coat and my hand. “Come on, let’s go!”

“Wait…!”

I can’t believe I’m in one of the most famous bar in Italy right now. I sat on the stool while watching Harry dancing with someone on the dance floor, moving his body to the beat of the music.

I sighed and just shook my head. “One scotch whiskey.” I ordered to the mixer and he nodded at me. After a while, he got me my drink and left me.

“Hey Earl! Having fun?!” Harry appeared behind me and I turned around to give him a glare.

“Do I look like I’m having fun?” I asked him and he laughed at me. “Come on Harry. Let’s go already.” I pleaded but he pouted at me.

“But we’re having so much fun!” He screamed and I rolled my eyes at him. “Let’s dance!” He pulled me towards the dance floor and I tried to struggle but he’s holding me too tight.

I stood there on the middle like an idiot while the people surrounding me were dancing to the music like some wild animals. I quietly tried to slip away but Harry caught my hand and pulled me close to him.

“Loosen up and have fun, Earl! Matthias won’t even know we’re here!” He reasoned out and I sighed.

So much for helping him.

“That was so much fun!” Harry said while we walked out of the bar. He smelled like alcohol and he was swaying how a drunken man was.

“Stay still, you’re making my head hurt.” I said. I rubbed my head that’s aching now.

“Lalalalalala~” Harry danced around me.

After calling a taxi, I helped him get inside. Man, he looks so disoriented. Harry’s hair was all over his face, his cheeks were bright red and his clothes were dishevelled. I sighed and closed the door of the cab after instructing the driver where to head.

Few minutes passed and we arrived in front of my apartment. I paid the driver, dragged Harry out and slammed the door close.

We were about to enter when a car behind us screeched so loudly that my ears cringed at the sound of it. I turned around to see who it was and wished I never did.

It was Matthias.

I watched him get out of the car, and as soon as he saw me, his face turned bitter. “Where were you?”

I glared at him. “Why do you care?”

He marched towards me and towered me with authority. I have to look up to match his glare. “Don’t make me ask you again, Earl.”

I gulped, hope he didn’t notice that, and bit my lips. “I thought you didn’t care about Harry.”

“That’s another thing. I’m asking you, where have you been?” He emphasized the word ‘you’ and I can tell how pissed he was.

“Get off my back for once, will you?” I turned around him and helped Harry to climb the stairs since he’s about to fall on his ass.

Suddenly, Matthias yanked me away from Harry, pulling me towards him while gripping my wrist, like he’s about to snap it in half. I cringed at the pain and tried to release myself from his deathly grip but it was futile. I immediately stopped thrashing when I saw his expression.

It was hard, it was dangerous and it’s definitely mad.

“I’m asking you a question so you better answer me.” He pulled me much closer (it’s that even possible since we’re too close already). When I looked down to avoid his gaze, his hand reached up to my chin, forcing me to lift my head up.

“Alright, alright! We went to a bar! End of story!” I screamed and when I did, he swiftly released me.

“Figures. I can smell the alcohol.” Matthias walked towards Harry, pulling his arm and guiding it around his shoulders to help him get up. “I swear, you’re such a pain in the ass.” He dragged Harry inside but when he collapsed in his arms, Matthias cursed and decided to just carry him.

I opened the door of my unit, letting them enter first before closing it. Matthias threw Harry on the sofa and groaned.

“And that’s the reason why I don’t want to help him.” He mumbled before going to the kitchen. When he came back, he was already drinking a beer which was reserved for me.

I plopped down on the sofa and watched Harry who was now snoring like a child. “I think it’s about him and Edward.”

“Isn’t it always?” Matthias said before sitting down on the chair across mine. He finished drinking the beer and looked at me with a serious expression. “Did he say something else?”

“Huh? Like what?” I asked and he shrugged his shoulders.

“Something about the gang or…” He trailer off and I immediately understood what he meant.

“Nope. He didn’t tell anything about that.” I answered and he sighed.

“Good. Because I’m gonna kill him if he does.” He said in a dangerous tone and I know he wasn’t kidding.

“I wanna know what happened to the two of them.” I mumbled while I hugged both my knees close to my chest.

“Who cares about that?” Matthias scoffed and I just glared at him. “Yeah yeah, I know you do. God. I can’t believe I’m going to say this.”

I tilted my head at him. “What? What is it?”

“I’m gonna help you in whatever the problem is.” He said with a grunt and I can’t help but to grin at him.

“I knew it! You do care!” I jumped off my seat and laughed.

Matthias glared at me but he looked embarrassed. “Of course not. I’m doing this because…!” He stopped and cursed. “Fuck!”

I laughed again.

He really can’t say no to me.
