Prologue: A World with Special Beings
2007 – 2012: The Great War.
The Great War…also known as The War of Pride. It was during this period that various nations were at war with each other to prove that their nation was superior. The existence of Special Beings among these countries led them to believe these delusions of superiority.
Special beings are normal human beings who were born with special powers. Some can control the natural elements; others can summon forth monsters or demons to do their bidding; others can go as far as transforming into the monsters themselves. The powers of Special humans have always been random and unexpected.
When the existence of Special beings caught their eye, the Government decided to locate all Special beings within the country and use them in the war. It was China who made the first move. After that, every other country did the same: Enlisting Special Humans into their army. In 2012, nearing the end of May, a Ceasefire Agreement was signed by the nations, who believe this war was getting nowhere. With the end of The Great War, everyone was wondering what was going to happen to the Special Beings.
2012 – 2014: Research into ‘Armor Equip’ Powers.
After the Great War in 2012, a female scientist by the name of Miyazaki Masuyo, at the age of 22 years old, led a research team to find out whether they can place manmade objects into the Special Beings.
Her motivation for this project was the question, “If a Special Beings power can transform themselves into ‘Monsters’, why can’t a Special Being have the power to equip themselves with a powerful armor? I’m sure it’s much easier than transforming their body into another creature.”
When asked for the reason why she wishes to conduct such a research, she replies, “If this research is successful, I can transfer the results to the public. That way, even normal human beings can be given the opportunity to attain this newfound power.”
At first the public was doubtful of her research but with the support and funding from the Amakusa family, her research showed positive results. By the middle of 2014, the ‘Armor Equip power’ was fully published and accepted by the public.
“Though adults can’t attain the ‘Armor Equip’ Power, our tests have shown that children below the age of five have a higher chance in attaining this power.”
With her success in creating the ‘Armor Equip’ Power, also referred to as the ‘Second Generation’ of Special Beings, everyone was wondering what her next research will be about.
2012 – 2017: Research into ‘Warhead Summoning’ Powers.
It seems that while the ‘Armor Equip’ research was going on, Miyazaki Masuyo was preparing another research, the ‘Warhead Summoning’ Research. It was only in 2014 that she told the public about her second research.
“I noticed that Special Beings have the power to summon forth mythical beings from other dimensions. My new research is designed to research if we can create Special Beings with the powers to ‘summon’ forth modern warheads such as fighter planes, battleships, artillery guns, and so forth.”
The very idea of summoning forth warheads sounded preposterous. However, because of Miyazaki Masuyo’s success in creating the ‘Armor Equip’ power, the public did not shun her idea completely, “I know that this kind of power seems farfetched but that is what I wish to do, to create something that no one has ever thought of doing before. I know this research will take years but I will create positive results no doubt.”
Again, her research was once more funded by the Amakusa family, led by Amakusa Tatsuo, the Supreme General of the Japan army back during the Great War.
Early 2017, Miyazaki gave birth to her second child, Miyazaki Ayano. She stated that her child is the very first human to possess the ‘Warhead Summoning’ Powers, “I am not able to recreate this power into a living human. However, a child who is still not born shows different results. By placing the powers into a pregnant mother, the child that she gives birth to will be able to attain such powers. No side effects have been found in both the mother and the child.”
Two months after her second child was born, Miyazaki migrated to the United States of America, bringing both her daughters, Miyazaki Ayako (10 years old) and Miyazaki Ayano (2 months old) with her. She continued her research in the US, and the ‘Summoning Warhead’ Power was proven successful by the end of 2017.
By the start of 2018, human’s who had the ‘Armor Equip’ or ‘Summoning Warhead’ Power were called Experimented Beings. They signify the second generation of ‘Special Beings’, having possessed human-created powers.
11 April, Year 2033 (Monday) - 9.00am
“To all the Freshman, on behalf of the student body, I welcome all of you to our prestigious Academy. I hope that all of you will enjoy your next three years in St Folire Academy and work to your fullest to reach your greatest potential. Thank you.” and with that the Student Council President steps down from the podium after giving her speech and walks back to her seat. Just as all the students walk back to their respective classes after the 'Opening ceremony', a male student leaps into the school yard from the back gate.
He jumps a little too high and hits a tree just as he was about the land. What was supposed to be a perfect landing ended up as a crash, butt first. His school emblem is red in color, signifying that he is a Freshman. His uniform coat is dark-blue though, making him either a Sophomore or a Senior, since St Folire Academy decided to change their new uniform coat from dark-blue to black starting this year. He stands up and checks his uniform, in case it got ripped during his fall. He brushes off the leaves resting on his black hair, and combs them back using his right hand. He feels lucky that he is not wearing any spectacles or he would have damaged it during his fall. He puts his hand into his pocket and takes out his student card. On the card is written:

Name: Amakusa Aiken
Enrollment Year: 2033
Type: Experimented Being
Just as Aiken places his student card back into his pocket, a round object comes flying towards him. If it was any other time, Aiken would have easily dodged it. However, he was distracted; wondering if he hid the porn magazines in his room, because Sumire stated that she would be cleaning his room today. And so, the round object smacks Aiken straight on his left cheek with a force so great that Aiken loses balance and smacks himself on the tree he just fell down from.
Aiken squats down, pressing his hurting nose with both hands. He turns around to face the person who threw that object at him, “Who the hell throws-” and suddenly Aiken loses his sight.
“GYAHHHH!!!” it seems that the person who threw the object at Aiken just used her index and middle finger to poke his eyes.
“You got some nerve to come to school late on your first day eh, little brother.” says the girl who claims to be Aiken’s sister.
“Mei” Aiken talks, sobbing a bit, “that hurt like hell.” and wipes off his tears.
Amakusa Mei, 17 years old. Second child of the Amakusa family. She is a senior in St Folire Academy, meaning that this is her last year is this academy. Her dark blue hair is tied up in a ponytail that flows unto her hips. Her rack is not that huge, but it is something worth looking at. She has black eyes while Aiken has dark blue eyes. Aiken stands at 170cm while Mei stands just 5 cm lower than him, even though she is a year older than him.
“That’s what you get for skipping the opening ceremony.” Mei pesters on as she walks towards the round object that she threw.
“What difference does it make if I go? I know what class I’ll be in. Isn’t that more than enough?” Aiken mutters out while he rubs his eyes, “I’ve already done my research beforehand. I know who I want to recruit into my team.”
“Whatever…catch!” and Mei throws the round object towards Aiken. He catches it this time. In Aiken’s hand is a black bracelet. It’s about 20cm in length and 5cm in width.
“Got for you a black colored one,” Mei continues, “thought you’d prefer it over the white ones.”
“A limiter eh…” Aiken thought to himself. With just this one bracelet, the academy can ensure that the special beings in their academy do not abuse their powers.
“Thanks.” Aiken replies, and folds up his left sleeve, placing his left hand into the limiter. The limiter automatically adjusts itself to fit nicely on Aiken’s wrist. Happy with it, Aiken folds back down his left sleeve and walks towards his bag.
“Make sure you configure the limiter with your student profile at the teacher’s office later. If not the Student Council will come after you.” Mei warns her little brother as she pushes him forward, towards the classes building.
“All right!!” Aiken shouts out as he moves aside to avoid his sister’s pushing, “It’s not my first time in this Academy you know.” and they both continue on towards their classes.
This is St Folire Academy. One year after The Great War ended, this academy was built at the outskirts of the city. Its purpose was to ensure that the Special beings can go to school without fear of being discriminated. This academy currently holds more than 10,000 students within the age of 15-17 years old. After 20 years since its founding, St Folire Academy now stands as the most prestigious Academy for Special Beings throughout Japan.
When you enroll into St Folire Academy, you are either a Special Being or an Experimented Being. Amakusa Mei can be considered as an Experimented Being because of her powers. Others can be known as a Special Beings because of their control of the ‘First Generation’ Powers. Amakusa Aiken on the other hand, is neither. It is only after a year since Aiken’s enrollment that St Folire Academy accepts the classification of a third being. Amakusa Aiken is not a Special Being or an Experimented Being. He is an Irregular Being.
