Chapter 3

I open my eyes and realize that I’m on my bed, but Chance is sitting next to me, sleeping. I sit up and touch my forehead. Oh, there is a bandage, maybe I fainted and hit something. I brush Chance bangs out of his eyes when I remember what happened. I quickly got off the bed, but a warm hand grabs around my wrist.

“You shouldn’t be up yet, Ruby.” Chance said as he pulls me down onto the bed. I quickly yank my waist from his grasp.

“Get out of my room. I don’t want to see neither of your guy’s faces.” I said as I look away from him.

“Listen, Ruby-” Chance begins, but I interrupted, “I SAID GET OUT! I don’t want to listen to your little talks about blah blah blah!”

I got up and went to the door when Chance got up but trip. He fell forward toward me when I turn around to catch him, but he is too heavy for me. So instead I fell back pulling him down with me.

I wince as we landed hard on the ground, but when I open my eyes. Chance’s face is less than one centimeter from mine. I can feel his chest rising up and down on mine and his warm breath. Chance quickly rolled off me and his face was bright red.

Chance mumble something under his breath but I’m pretty sure he said I’m sorry. So I ask him, “Chance...I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to, but did you just said that you’re sorry?”

Chance didn’t even dare to look into my eyes, but he stuttered, “Y-yeah..but..that was...k-kinda c-cool.”

Cool?! This is happening so fast because Chance never gets so red and he never uses any manners. Also...he doesn’t look like that kind of person who says such a thing!

“Ruby...can you please listen to me, please?” Chance said as he made a worried face. Wait why is Chance acting so weird? Did he hit his head when we were falling? I took my hand and touch his forehead to check if he got the flu. When I did that Chance got red again, so pull back and do it again. When I realize...

“CHANCE ARE YOU BLUSHING?!” I yelled in excitement. Oh My Gosh! Chance looks so cute - wait why did I just think that he is cute?! Chance looks aways and tries to clear his throat. Chance brushes his bangs from his eyes and said, “Ruby...I have to tell you something important.”

“Fine. What is it?” I sigh as I walk toward my bed. Chance sat next to me and put his hands over mine. He looks into my eyes for a moment and was about to say something, but he hesitated.

“I think it’s still too I’m gonna tell you something else. Ruby, you are not going to the other side alone.” Chance smiles and his eyes start to twinkle. “You and I are going over there alone. Just us two. The rest are gonna stay here and from now on I will...”

I raised an eyebrow, “What do you mean it’s too early know you don’t have to do this, Chance. It can be dangerous for you.”

Chance narrows his eyebrows and hugs me tightly. I try to push him away, but he was too strong. Then I heard a whimpering - a silent crying from Chance. I hug him back and buries my face in his chest.

“R-ruby...I don’t want you to leave. I-I...I want you to be next to me all the time.” Chance sniffed. “I will...tell you the important thing one day because I don’t think you think the same way as me.”

I nodded, “I won’t leave you Chance. So please stop crying, and where is the Chance that I used to know? Did you poison him?”

Chance pulled away and giggles. It made me blush a little but I rub his hair. This time he smiles so wide from ear to ear and...he’s so handsome.

“ I think you should smile more, because you look...cute and...handsome.” I whisper, but Chance heard. So he turns around and blushes. I wrap my arms around Chance’s hip and hug him tight.

Chance told me to go downstairs for lunch but I plan to stay in my bedroom. I don’t want to go to the other side of the world and see my worst parents ever. I hate them. I sigh and plan to lay down for a bit, but a knock on the door interrupted.

I got up and went to open the door up and see Zero standing there smirking.

“What do you want?!” I snapped as I begin to close the door, but he stops it. Zero opens up the door and pushes me toward the bed. I feel on the bed and try to get up, but I couldn’t.

“What do you want? It’s not nice to push a girl around, Zero!” I glared at him and try to sit up, but he’s pinning me down. Zero grabs both of my wrists and pinned it above my head and he’s leaning down.

“It’s not nice to push a girl around if I don’t know her, but I know her and she’s gonna be mine. All I want you to do is accept me and go to the other side of the world.” Zero whispers in my ear as he stops leaning down. When his lip is only a centimeter apart. I try to get free from his grip on my wrist, but he’s too strong. Zero was so close to kissing me, but I felt someone pulling Zero off me.

“What do you think you are doing?!” Chance said as he pushes Zero out the door. I got up and slap across Zero’s face.

“You are so disgusting! What was that for?! And-and what do you mean?” I huffed, “What do you mean be mine?”

When I finish my sentence, Chance’s face went blank for a minute. His eyes became cold and stare right through Zero’s soul. Zero flinch and said, “Cool it, man. See you two tomorrow.”

Zero sprints down the hallway, while Chance is all shaken up with anger. I back away from Chance because I think he is going to go crazy.

“Chance it’s okay. Zero didn’t do anything, so you really should cool down. Also if you won’t mind...I need some space.” I said as I gently rub Chance’s back.

Chance hesitated first, but he went out the door with his head hanging low. I close the door behind him and lay down on my bed.

That was so off and Zero had broken so many lines. I can’t believe he would push me down on my bed...and try to kiss me?! The more I think about it gives me chills, so I plan to forget about what had happened.
