Wish I Could Forget

"Should we wake her up or not?"

"She hasn't eaten since the morning. She needs to eat."

"Okay just get out and I'll wake her up."

"I want to be by her side too!"

"Shut up and get out!"

I heard two familiar voices whisper-yelling among each other and some noises but I didn't open my eyes, I immediately recognized them as Cora's and Pearce's voices. I was still tired a little bit but definitely feeling better than before.

I felt a soft hand stroking my hair so I slowly opened my eyes to meet Cora's beautiful blue eyes .

She beamed at me and gave me a small kiss on my forehead like a loving sister would do.

"Sorry if you're still exhausted but your brothers said that you haven't eaten anything other than breakfast. Come on dinner is ready, everyone is waiting for you downstairs."

I gave her a sleepy smile while rubbing my eyes and stretching my sore limbs. Cora left the room while I got up to get ready. I put on a white hoodie and paired it with some black jeans and white sneakers. I fixed my hair into a fishtail braid and made my way downstairs.

A maid led me towards the dining room where everyone was seated chatting and laughing together. I small smile formed on my face seeing my new family happy without any bad news or interruptions.

Everyone turned their gaze my way when I joined them on the table.

"καλό απόγευμα Memory.", said Adrian while flashing one of his charming smiles. (good evening).

I gave him a small smile and nodded my head in response.

"Cora told me you were tired, are you feeling better now? ", he asked with concern clearly seen on his features.

"I'm totally better thanks to you and your family. You're helping us fight against one of the cruellest people and anything we do won't be enough to return such a favour. ", I replied with my eyes brimming in warm tears.

I'm becoming emotional these days, it's probably because I've never faced hard situations like this other than my mother's passing, and I obviously didn't have anyone to care about other than Zayn. But now things changed completely, I started feeling what having a loving family means.

"If you start crying than I will too! And please stop thanking us, you are family and we sacrifice everything for our family. Now let's eat because my stomach might start eating itself in a minute." Cora pulled me into her and mumbled in a low voice.

I giggled and it seems that everyone heard her clearly and fell into a fit of laughter.

Three hours later...

I sat on my bed while going through some old photos of Zayn and me, some with mother and some with the only two of us.

Each photo reminded me of happy moments from the past but bought with it intolerable pain that wrapped itself around me like a snake, squeezing the life out of me.

Hot tears streaming down my face like a river, taking with it the heartbreak and misery.

I didn't realize that someone was in the room beside me until I felt two strong arms wrap around me, pulling me into a warm embrace. This moment was the safest I've felt in my entire life, and then I heard his voice,

"Everything is going to be alright, αγάπη μου. I'm here...why are you crying?"(my love).

"I miss her so much...mother was our only hope but she left us to face everything on our own."

"I'm pretty sure she's proud of you for being strong Memory. But she won't like it if you cry every time you remember her. Just think about the good times you had with her and smile."

I sighed and snuggled more into his warm body.

I was passing by Memory's room when I heard her sobbing, my heart broke into a million pieces.

I knocked lightly on the door then entered the room. Photos were scattered all over the bed and the whole room was filled with her cries. I reached for her and held her in my arms like she was a wounded bird.

"I miss her so much...", her voice was broken and held pain and grief.

I whispered reassuring words in her ear while stroking her silky black hair tenderly and brushed away her tears.

She snuggled closer and fell asleep in my arms, I couldn't help but admire her beautiful face.

I placed her properly under the covers and put the photos away in their box. I kissed her forehead and left the room to talk to the rest.

Everyone was sitting in the living room waiting for me.

I sat down on in my usual spot facing everyone.

I cleared my throat and started talking,

"Every single one of you knows that Memory is sensitive when it comes to two things: her mother and Amory's problem. So from now on, no one will even think about opening-up these two topics when she's around. Am I clear?"

They all nodded their heads in approval. I might have sounded like an asshole but the matter is extremely important and I need everyone to fully understand what they have to do.

"Second of all, we have to cheer her up a bit. Each one of you think about something that might make her forget about the matter as much as possible. "

Cora squealed and started jumping.

" I have plent of ideas! This is going to be fun!!!"

"Cora lower your voice she's asleep! ", I said sternly.

Cora stared at me for a second then said with a smirk,

"And what are you going to do big brother?"

I hesitated a bit before telling them my idea in a low voice.

"I'm going to ask her out..."
