Mr. Jefferies takes the note from Bot. He could see in-front was his and his wife’s names written in ink. He opened up the note carefully, only to find in caps the message of needing to report to the strategy building. Right now. He begins to fold it up, before going over to the coat rack where his hat, and walking stick are. Jonah watches his father put his hat on, and button up his business coat. He then speaks to father, “Dad...”
Mr. Jefferies turned to look Jonah in the face. He had a good overview of disappointment and grieve lingering in his son’s blue eyes, he then placed two hands on his son’s shoulders. He then spoke with kindness, “I’m sure it’s not to bad.”
“I’m going to get kicked from program aren’t I?”
“No, of course not,” Mr. Jefferies tried to reassure his son, “I’ve failed twice in my day, and I made it up the third time. I never had been kicked from my time taking the spy program. If you’re anything like me, I’m pretty sure Purple would find a way to help you achieve your goal of being part of the agency. Besides’ he’s had me for a student a while back, before I met your mother... I mean...”
A vibration then buzzes a sound catching Mr. Jefferies attention. He could witness from the table in the hall, a phone lit up, with a instant message sending out a warning that Mrs. Jefferies is calling home. Mr. Jefferies speaks into the speaker of the phone he picked up nervously, “Hello?”
“Hi sweetie, I am on my way home from work. Is Jonah home yet?”
“Yes he is, in-fact...”
But before Mr. Jefferies could even continue, Mrs. Jefferies begins chatting away, “Good, because I can’t wait to hear about how his testing today. I’m sure Spiketone had sent us a copy of his final grade in the exams. I can’t wait to see it, I’m excited as you are, aren’t you excited. I’m very excited.”
“Yes, but Li...”
“I wonder what missions our son will go on. Do you think he’ll send him on a challenging and dangerous mission? Or a simple piece of cake mission? I rather him not be on a hazardous one because I fear for his safety...”
“Lilac...” Mr. Jefferies, tries speaking again with a little irritation, but she continues talking.
“Or maybe he will be inventing new inventions for the spies? That’ll be cool with new ray blasters, or perhaps a new way to travel through time...I mean...”
“Lilac!” hollered Mr. Jefferies, as she paused on the other reciever.
“What, you don’t need to shout and lower your voice. You almost made my ears bleed,” Mrs. Jefferies pointed out.
“I’m sorry, I have to get going, and I was on my way out to get you,” Mr. Jefferies said, “Our son brought home a note stating for both of us to meet his teacher for a conference. He wants to talk to us about Jonah.”
“Don’t tell me, he didn’t pass,” Mrs. Jefferies said at the end of her side of the phone.
“I’m afraid so,” Mr. Jefferies said, “We are asked to come to a meet with the teacher, a conference.”
A parent teacher conference? That’s not possible to happen to the last of their sons. She couldn’t believe what she’s hearing. She and her husband are invited to meet with Mr. Spikeston in person, himself. They’ve always virtually communicated with the teacher due to the fact it’s what is required for parents and students. All teachers and parents speak through computer software, or through telecommunication devices they don’t visit each other in person often anymore for meetings. But now something’s changed. They’re going to meet Purple Spikeston for the first time in person. She didn’t know what else to say other then, “You have to be kidding me? A parent and teacher conference? I didn’t see that coming.”
“Tell me about it,” Mr. Jefferies spoke frustratedly it didn’t take long for him to then signal Jonah to go straight upstairs to his bedroom.
Jonah nods understanding, before he did he points to the kitten, asking about him if he could keep it. Mr. Jefferies noticed the kitten, which he had noticed before then mouthed the words ‘discussion later’ cause he noticed the collar. It must be something else his son wants to speak to him about besides being in hot-water with him and his mother.
