I am so tired and it just makes me angrier when I hear her giggling and joking with Rubble. Thankfully, I was able to fall asleep before I started anything with him and scared her. I feel a lot better with her in my room with the door locked and away from that playboy. He only wants her for what’s in her pants and I won’t let him use her like he has so many others.

“Rora?” I question as she stares at me with a blank face and blank eyes, she has this amazing ability to easily hide her emotions from people and I’m starting to think that it’s a defence mechanism, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to read her in the future just as she can read me.

She clears her throat and pivots awkwardly, her hazel eyes lifting to look at me with a soft smile and pink dusting her cheeks. “Umm, who’s taking the bed?” Her voice is so soft that I struggle to hear her, I just give her a look that says ‘you’ and the soft pink quickly turns to a bright red that makes my chest hurt in the best way. “There’s no point in fighting you about it, is there?”

“Nope, get some sleep Rora, the women are gonna tire you out tomorrow.”

I settle down onto the window seat as she curls up on the bed facing me. “You know, I’ve never had a girls day before. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do.” I turn to look at her in surprise, “I just never had any real friends in school, I guess that’s why I loved Hendrix so much, he was all I had and he made sure of it when we were together.”

“I’m sorry, Aurora. If it had been up to me, Hendrix wouldn’t have gotten off so easily.” I wince at the directness of my words, hoping I haven’t upset her since most women don’t particularly like the idea of violence.

“I know.” The small smile on her face reassures me and I return it before winking at her and turning back to the book in my hands. “Another book?” I chuckle and shrug, I go through books quickly as I don’t sleep, it’s not like I have much else to do.

“He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven... it’s by W.B. Yeats.”

“Tread softly because you tread on my dreams...” She whispers back before snuggling further into the bed and drifting off. I feel a spark of envy at her ability to fall asleep so quickly before a spark of happiness drifts in because I can glance at her without worrying about her catching me.

I stir later than usual, at the still dark hour of seven am. I roll away from the window to see Aurora but find the bed perfectly made and her things gone. I immediately throw myself from the seat and get ready to leave, making it to the door and throwing it open only to find the women (without Aurora) on the other side.

“Where’s Cass?” Lexie asks and I think my eyes widen because I was hoping they knew because I don’t. “I thought she stayed here?” I nod, telling her that she did and they start gossiping so I pass by them to start looking around the compound for her but I have no success and panic starts to form in my heart.

Work! She has to be at work. She said to the girls that she finishes at nine today so she would’ve had to have started early this morning. I head straight out the front door and find myself with stragglers, Saviour, Marielle, Lexie and Hunter stalk after me and I give them a look. “We just want to make sure she’s okay, same as you.” Marielle reassures and gets into the passenger seat of Saviour’s car.

Hunter and I flank the car as we head to the dance studio, me giving the directions by pointing and we get there in ten minutes. It’s a good thing I brought people with me because the receptionist probably wouldn’t let someone through if they physically can’t explain why they’re there.

Saviour does all the talking while I fidget behind her, I won’t calm down until I can see that she’s safe and breathing. It takes another ten minutes to convince the receptionist that we are her friends before she finally unlocks the fucking door to the rest of the building.

I follow the three girls and avoid the looks being thrown at us, curiosity, lust, disgust, all the fun stuff. “She’s here!” Lexie calls while I glare at the bloke cleaning the floors who is looking at me like he wants to kill me. “Breaker!” I just growl softly before spinning on my heel and stalking over to them, sighing heavily when I see her.

She’s wearing tight leggings and a sports bra, her skin glistening from sweat and her hair hanging loosely around her waist. She’s breathing, healthy and safe. The music stops and one of the girls that she’s teaching notices all five of us lingering at the door. “Who are you?” Her hands are on her hips as she glares up at us, she’s gotta be like eight and she’s staring down bikers. I’m impressed.

“B?” Her curious eyes focus on me and I find myself craving to yank her into my chest and squeeze her into a hug and never let her go. “What are you guys doing here? It’s not nine yet, is it?”

“We couldn’t find you this morning and you didn’t leave a note so we didn’t know what happened to you.” Lexie scolds and Aurora just smiles.

“I’m sorry, I’ll try and remember next time.” My heart skips at the mention of a next time, thank God.

“Are you going to introduce me to your friends, darling?” I turn my look to a tall, slender, middle-aged woman with soft green eyes and her greying hair in a strict bun.

“That depends on whether or not you’re going to change your god-awful music choice.”

“Aurora Cassidy, that was very disrespectful.”

“You deserved it.” Aurora then gets poked with a cane while she giggles hysterically, the girls she was teaching laughing too. “Sorry, Ms. Judy. These are my friends Saviour, Marielle, Lexie, Hunter and Breaker.”

“Hello, I’m Ms. Judy. I own this studio-”

“And music taste from the sixties.”

“What is it with you and my music taste today, tsvetok?” (flower - Russian)

“I was talking to your championship team and they’re dancing to an awful song, I was actually sad to teach them that dance.”

“That’s it, you’re fired.”

“Miss Sterling, you continue to defy me.”

“Because you make it so easy.”

“Of course, it’s my fault you’re a pain in my ass.”

“Self awareness is the first step to fixing the problem.” The grin on Aurora’s face has me weak at the knees as I watch her banter with her mentor.

“That’s it, off you go. I’m sure you have better things to be doing.” Ms.Judy dismisses Aurora who gives us a thumbs up and drags Lexie behind her, knowing that we’ll follow.

“I’m gonna go shower and get ready, I’ll be out in about twenty minutes max.” We agree and head out to the car park to wait for her so that we’re out of the way.

It feels like forever before she skips out of the building with her hair swinging behind her, she’s wearing some jeans and a fluffy jumper with the same trainers she was wearing for work and she’s on her phone as she heads over to us. “Come on, Cass! Let’s hit the spa, we’ve got Breaker and Hunter for protection today.” Saviour shouts from the drivers seat with a massive grin on her face.

Hunter and I weren’t supposed to be on guard duty today, it was supposed to be Mac and Rubble but since we’re already out and not needed, Prez shuffled the schedule. I’m thankful for that since Rubble would spend the day flirting with her. Aurora heads to the car and I almost deflate at the idea of her not riding on my bike but she throws her bag in the back and hurries over to me.

She takes her helmet from the side bag and slips on behind me, leaving the girls to stare at her in amusement and confusion. I start the engine, making Hunter and Saviour do the same and we head off to the spa.

I feel at home with Aurora on the back of the bike with her arms wrapped tightly around me as she giggles softly when we speed around corners.

I can almost feel her nerves when she slips off the bike at the spa, looking at me for reassurance before following the girls into the building. This is one of the many businesses that we revamped after we stole it from the Fire Demons when we took their operation down, Romeo, Gears and the women were roped into fixing them up and I’ll admit they did a good job.

This is where all of our working girls get money off to get their hair, nails, tan or whatever else they need for work and we hired techs to work here to serve private customers too. The only people that get to go here for free are the Old Ladies and I suppose Aurora too.

This is gonna be a long day.
