Breaker (Riders of Apollo #4)

Saviour was texting me all day, keeping me updated on his condition and with every text I was getting angrier and more worried. The way he stumbled up the stairs scared the crap out of me, it’s not like I’d be able to lift him if he passed out.

Now I’m debating whether or not to go to school, I could stay here and police him. Forcing him to stay in bed but I’ve given up a lot for my education and he’s a grown man who can take care of himself... right?

I manage to untangle myself from B’s arms and the duvet, almost falling on my face in the struggle. I stroke the hair back from his face and kiss his forehead before heading to the bathroom to get ready for the day.

I fix my hair into two French braids before messing them up so that hair falls around my face. I learned that trick from Lexie, she said that braids made her look bald - she has red hair, I don’t think she can ever look bald. I decide to do less makeup than usual because I can’t be bothered and I head out to my closet soon afterwards.

Breaker is still asleep, I stop and watch his chest rise and fall for a bit before I realise I don’t have much time to finish getting ready for school. I choose a little white dress with embroidered flowers on and I pair it with my brown leather knee highs. “You look good.” I squeak at B’s husky voice as he drags out ‘good’ with the cocky smirk on his face.

“Thank you.” I whisper, spritzing on some perfume and putting on my jewellery. He makes grabby hands at me which makes me laugh, giving in almost immediately and making my way to sit next to him. “You should be sleeping, you had a long day yesterday.”

He groans with a pout on his beautiful face as he coaxes me closer. “I told you to stop worrying.”

“Breaker, I am your Old Lady, I’m always going to worry. Especially when you come stumbling home, out of your mind with exhaustion.” He just smiles lazily and I plant endless kisses on his cheek and jaw. “I have to go to school, promise me you’ll take it easy today.”

“Scouts honour.” He puts his hand up with the other on his heart as he swears to me.

“You were never a scout.”

“Still counts.”

“You’re an idiot.” I kiss him again, squealing as he tickles me. “I have to go.” I complain as he grabs me around the waist, readying to plant me back on the bed and squeeze me half to death.

“Just let me get dressed and I’ll take you.”

“Mr. B, what do you not understand about rest?”

“It’s my job to take care of you, including giving you lifts when you need them.”

“It’s my job to take care of you too...” I just stare at him while he doesn’t flinch, “There’s no arguing with you, is there?” His grin is unreal as I succumb to him and he slips out of bed to get ready quickly. I watch him change, his back muscles rippling and I drool, willing to be late to class just to lick it.

“If you keep looking at me like that you won’t be walking for a week.” He says it so non-chalantly but I can easily see how my stare is affecting him. The tent in his jeans is rather noticable.

“You’re injured.” At this point I don’t know who I’m trying to convince because my voice is breathless with lust and I’m sure my eyes are dark as I survey him.

School. School. School.

If he touches me, I’m done for. So, when he reaches for me, I smack his hands away making him look at them in surprise. “You can’t touch me or I will never get to school on time.”

“Whatever you want, baby.” He then winks and my ovaries explode. If there is a God, he hates me for temptation is never something I was good with. I mean, if you put a cupcake in front of me and told me not to eat it... I would’ve eaten it anyway without even flinching.

Breaker is the cupcake and I wanna sink my teeth into him. I’m not helping myself at all, if anything I’m getting more riled up the more I think about it. I hurry into the kitchen while he freshens up in the bathroom and I almost drown myself in ice water.

“Ready to go?”

“Yeah.” I grab my stuff and hurry down the stairs behind him, locking the doors behind me quickly before climbing onto the back of his bike. I’ll admit, holding on to him and feeling the vibrations of the bike does not help with the horniness.

It’s almost as if he can sense it, smirking at me as I shake myself out of it once I’m off the bike in front of the school. As per the usual, we have an audience but I’ve gotten used to it. He drags me closer by my waist and I wrap my arms around his neck, smiling up at him in awe. He’s too fucking beautiful for this world, I swear.

“You’re so pretty.” I tell him, dragging my finger across his jawbone as I watch a soft blush take over his cheeks. In response, he kisses me over and over again on all the free skin he can see, making me laugh and tilt my head back.

“You know I love you, right?” He whispers, his lips brushing against mine with his eyes sparkling.

“Hmm, I think you’ve mentioned it once or twice.” His jaw drops in surprise, his eyes then narrow before he starts to tickle me.

“What was that?” He relentlessly tickles me as he tries and coaxes the answer he wants out of me.

“Okay, okay! I love you, too.” He finally kisses my lips, making me dizzy and my knees almost give out. The bell rings and I reluctantly pull away.

“Go on, I’ll see you later.”

“Go and rest, please.” I beg and he nods, “Be safe.” He rides off and Vivi appears at my arm before he’s fully gone.

“Oh my god, you guys have to be the cutest damn couple I’ve ever seen.” Vivi fangirls all the way to first period where Lauren, Poppy and Dory accost me. They take the seat directly in front of me while Vivi sits beside me with the boys behind us.

“Your boyfriend is gorgeous.” Poppy tells me while applying lip gloss.

“Yeah, he is.” I know I’m blushing but I mean it’s not a lie. I was literally ready to eat him this morning, the only thing stopping me was this stupid thing called an education... it should’ve been the bullet wound but apparently not.

“You guys are cute together.” Lauren squeezes my hand in excitement.

“Thank you.”

“You sure you’re up for being a biker wife? You seem a little, well, I don’t know the word for it.” Vivi looks ready to attack Dory for that statement, though I think she’s always ready to attack these girls even on the slightest provocation.

“That was mean, Dory. They love each other and she’s strong, she’s been through more than we have.” Lauren defends me and I look at her in surprise, Vivi does too.

“How do you know that?” Dory demands from Lauren, her nose in the air as she tries to intimidate Lauren.

“Look, okay, I don’t know details. I can just feel it, intuition. My mom says it’s a sense or something, I just wish we could’ve met earlier.” Lauren squeezes my hand again and I agree with her. I think she’s wearing Vivi down too because she seems to have mellowed out again.

“Maybe you, Vivi and I could go out to dinner tonight? I know Vivi and I have never really gotten along but I think we could be close...” I look at Vivi for her answer, her eyes meet mine and she shrugs.

“Sure, sounds like fun.” The rest of the day is slow and I sneak texts to Breaker whenever the teacher isn’t paying any attention. He’s at my place, on the couch, reading my books with the annotations and all. I should be embarrassed by that because I’ve written a lot of personal stuff in there but he knows me better than anyone.

He tells me that after I’ve gotten back from dinner with the girls I am all his. We need to finish what happened this morning apparently and I’m very happy with that idea. “Where are we going?” I ask as I jump into the backseat of Lauren’s convertible, Vivi is taller than me so needs more leg space and the size of the car would make it difficult for her to comfortable.

“Ooh I fancy burgers.” Lauren says and I agree immediately.

“Yes! I haven’t had a burger in forever!” Vivi cheers as we pull out of the parking lot to head to the diner up the road. We left school later than normal, waited around on the field until five watching the guys practice and the cheerleaders do their routines.

“Ugh, practice knocked me out!” Lauren drops into the booth, rubbing her hands together in excitement. Vivi sits next to me opposite her and I grab the closest menu, salivating over the long list of food that I could eat right now.

We order a full meal each with three full plates on top of that - one of nachos, one of chicken wings and some mozzarella sticks. “I am so hungry.” Vivi crams a handful of fries in her mouth before sticking an entire chicken wing in there and fishing out the bones.

“Whoa, how’d you do that?” Lauren is eating around the bone like a normal person.

“My brother taught me, we used to argue over who got the last chicken wing and the idiot would eat them whole so he’d always get more than me.”

“That used to happen to me to! The kids in the group homes could legitimately chow through pizza so quick you’d actually wonder if they made it disappear.”

“Kids are cute but I don’t think I want any of my own.” Lauren says, eating her food like a normal person while Vivi and I eat like we’ve been starved.

“I’ve always wanted lots of kids, like six or seven.” Vivi replies and I look at her in surprise. I knew she wanted kids but I didn’t know she wanted that many. “What about you Cassie?”

“I guess I never really thought about it. I love kids and I’ve been raising them since I was small, I definitely wouldn’t mind having B’s children.”

“They would be models, with you and Breaker together they’d get the perfect genes.” Lauren says which makes me blush.

“Does Breaker wants kids?”

“Umm, I’m not sure. We’ve never talked about it, I was only just claimed so we’ve got time to figure that out.”

“My guess is he’s waiting back at your place to make babies.” Lauren wiggles her eyebrows playfully as my blush turns bright red. It’s not a lie. “You’re not even denying it! You’ve been sexting him all day! That’s why you blushed in English and look all dreamy during lunch.”

“Oh my God, they better have been good texts.”

“From that blush on her face, Viv, I can only guess how saucy they were.”

This is so embarrassing.
