Chapter 9

The room fell silent as the last words seemed to echo in the silence between them. Mitsuhide looked at her and wondered what she had meant by that. It was a simple statement that could change the two people or it meant she did trust him on some basic level and they could be better friends because of it. He was slightly confused by the statement.

Everything she was going through was almost to much for her to handle. She had gone through so much in the past few hours that her mind was overworked. She needed to relax. He thought that a quiet rest of the night would help but it didn’t seem like that was going to work. She kept thinking.

“I should show you the rest of the house.” He said as he looked at her wheelchair and was going to open it from the folded state it was in. He already didn’t like the thing.

“That’s okay.” She said as looked around. “I think I just need to lay down. I assume that I am sleeping here.”

“No.” he said as he looked at her. “I was going to take you upstairs. I can’t sleep in this room unless I want to sleep on the floor. There is no other comfortable spot other than that couch your on.”

“Why do you have to be here?” she asked as she looked at him. “I mean I am not completely helpless.”

“Yes, my dear at the moment you are.” He said as she shook his head at her. “No pressure on your feet means no pressure on your feet. I don’t want you to think of me as someone being overbearing but more your willing slave for the next few weeks.”

“Did you think that maybe a few pair of socks can help ease the pressure on my feet?” she asked as she looked at him, “I don’t want a willing slave.”

“Well regardless I foresee me being one for the time being.” He said as he leveled a glare at her that was equal to her own. “We will have to figure this whole thing out as we go but i do see a few issues with things.”

“What do you mean?” she asked as she continued to glare.

“Bathroom, changing, showering.” He replied and he watched her think about all of that for a moment. Nothing like that had entered her mind.

“Damnit.” She said as her cheeks slowly turned red.

“Like I said, we will find a way.” He said as he looked at her. “You can’t help it.”

“Why don’t you drop me off at my sisters tomorrow. She will at least make things less embassesing for me.” Kit said.

“And I thought you didn’t get along with your family.” He stated.

“I don’t.” she said as she seemed to shrink back into her spot on the couch. “I can find my own way. I do thank you for the help and you know saving my life but I draw the line at being a major burden.”

“You’re not one.” He said, “Look Kit you need some help and you need to remain a secret for a bit. I am the perfect person to do that. I don’t care that you need help. I will help you.” He replied and he didn’t have to think twice about it. Things were not going to be a hindrance. They would just have to find a balance. “Right now you have to stay off your feet. Period. If you were at your sisters you wouldn’t. Look I have seen the damage done to them already. You have to give them a little time to heal. I will get you the biggest fluffiest slippers tomorrow so you can try to pad them but regardless I will help you with everything.”

“Why do you care so much about my feet?” she asked.

“Because they are a part of you.” He said simply. “You will either reopen the glue or do more damage if you rush yourself.”

“So what?” she asked as she looked at him.

“Kit are you always this difficult?” he chuckled. “Come on.” He stood and loomed over her as he moved the plate onto the floor and bent down and swooped her up into his arms and braced her close to him.

“Where are we going?” she asked in a higher pitched voice then normal.

“Upstairs.” He said with a chuckle. “You can have my room and I will sleep in the room next to it.”

“Why?” she asked.

“Do you always ask so many damn questions?” he asked as she he went up the stairs.

“Yes.” She said.

“Well be glad your cute.” He said as he shook his head again at her.

“What they hell does that mean?” she demanded as she scowled at him.

“Kit just be quiet for a few minutes please.” He said as he walked down the hallway and into a room that was bigger than some of the others she had seen. This was his bedroom. “This room has space so you can wheel yourself around in it. Also it has the bathroom attached and it is also bigger so you can get in and out by yourself.”

“Oh.” She said as she looked around.

“Like I said I will be your willing slave if you need help faster but I know you will want to be independent.” He stated as he sat her down on the bed. “Let me go get your chair and I will be right back.”

She looked around the room. This was like him she thought. It was spotless and almost unused. It was like it was untouched. She wondered if he even slept in here. The room downstairs looked like it was the only one being used. She waited for him to come back into the room as he was banging around on the stairs.

“You probably want to at least change your clothes and get some of the blood off of you.” He said as he looked at her when he set the chair down and moved it to her by the bed. He went over to the closet and opened the door. He pulled out a pair of sleep pants and a button up shirt he never wore. “These will do for a little bit.”

He looked at her on his bed and though he had some images pop into his head he fought with them to leave. This was not the time. She was hurt. She was weak and tired though she wouldn’t show it to much. She was blinking her eyes to stay awake. “thank you.” She simply said as she yawned.

“Do you need help?” he asked as he looked at her. She again began to flush.

“I think so.” She said as she struggled to sit up better. “Just don’t look at me.”

“Well I think that might be hard.” He said with a chuckle. “Lift your arms.”

“Mitsuhide.” She said softly.

“I promise I won’t be a lecher.” He stated as he grinned. “Just raise your arms.”

“Fine.” She replied as she did. he took the bottom hem of her shirt and lifted it up over her head. She reached over and got the other shirt and placed it on her arms and started to button it up. She looked at his face when it was buttoned. He then looked at her pants. She slid out of those on her own. She got to see the state of her feet at least the top of them for the first time.

“Let me get some water in the sink and some soap. You can clean off the blood easier that way.” He said softly. As he walked into the bathroom that was attached to the room she could hear the running water. She looked at the bottom of her feet and saw the damage. Though they were sliced up badly they were not in the worse shape as she was expecting by his reaction.

“This isn’t as bad as I though it was.” She said.

“They are bad.” He said.

“I am not saying they aren’t. I was expecting something else though.” She replied. “They really said no pressure at the hospital?”

“They did.” he said as he stood against the door jam. “why?”

“Because I wouldn’t have thought so.” She said. “I should keep the pressure going on them. Not a lot but I need to keep the blood flow moving. Otherwise it would pool and then it would have to be drained or infected.”

“So by staying in the chair it would have been bad?” he asked.

“Yes.” She replied, “I think so.”

“Figures.” He replied as he pushed off the wall and moved towards her.
