Hermione was barely conscious, it was May 3rd, 1998, and the battle of Hogwarts was over. Voldemort had won and she had no idea where Harry, Ron, Ginny, George, or any of the death eaters from her school were. She dragged her feet along the floor making scraping noises as she walked by all the dead bodies in the hall, which they were using as an infirmary. She could only imagine what could be arranged now. They had just killed half of Hogwarts’s population and no doubt they were plotting to come back and either recruit them to be death eaters, repurpose them to start breeding and making more servants, or killing them.
Looking around the room, once known for being the Great Hall, all Hermione could see were rags, towels, and tarps spread out all over the tables and floors. With lots of blood everywhere, on top of them laid the unconscious and dead bodies of those who had died.
she felt rage begin to form inside her stomach, their bodies are everywhere, thrown around and slowly perishing, without a proper memorial or burying. So many innocent people had just wasted their lives fighting in this battle and instead, they’re forgotten on the dirty floor of a; now useless, hall. She began looking closely to see if she could find anyone she knew, she spotted a lot more people than expected. Remus Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks, Fred Weasley, Collin Crevey, and Lavender Brown were the only people’s faces she could identify before she felt this sick feeling in her lower stomach. She needed to hurl.
She ran to the corner of the hall and began throwing up on an extremely empty stomach. The last time she recalled eating a normal, and a full meal was the night of Fleur and Bill Weasley’s wedding, which was almost a year and a half ago.
“Don’t worry you get used to the sight after a while, darling.” She heard a deep, optimistic voice say. She barely had the energy to look up. Her eyes were barely open and she could feel herself slowly drowsing in and out of consciousness.
She slowly tilted her head up and almost 40ft away on the other side of the hall stood a slender blonde-haired boy, with a rather pale complexion. He had a smirk on his face and his eyes, which the year before had insufferable bags under them were now completely cleared and he didn’t look nearly as stressed. He looked as if he had no humanity left in him at all, like if I looked at him the wrong way he would pull his wand out and use the killing curse on me at any moment. The expression on his face was unresponsive and he just continued to stare.
“Come to kill me as well? I’m sure that Harry and Ron’s dead bodies are already being paraded over.” My voice how low and hoarse. I hadn’t spoken in 36 hours and when I did I was shouting curses as loud as I could while dueling death eaters.
His expression someone how colder and he began walking closer, “Did I say you could speak to me you stupid mudblood cunt? Besides Potter and Weasley ran away after Lord Voldemort made them so weak they couldn’t even respond back to hexs’. So now in order to lure them out, I was told to come and get you.” He let out an ugly and rough laugh. “Which I am so exhilarated about. All the times that you’ve ever said something disrespectful and foul to me I can now take back. Make you pay for it. After this, we’ll both be even.”
“So Harry and Ron are safe? Oh, thank Merl-”
"CRUCIO” He yelled in her direction. A very bright red light came rousing out of the tip of his wand. It hit Hermione and all she could do is lay on the ground helplessly while screaming for help.
“You can scream as loud as you want, Mudblood. Nobody can hear you for miles. What did I say about speaking without being spoken to? You always did struggle with that, you never could keep your mouth shut. Always dying to shout out the answer from across the classroom.” He slowly walked closer to her body on the ground and kneeled down halfway. With the tip of his wand, he pushed it up against her chin to lift her head up. “You don’t seem to have anything to say now? Hmm, go on I know you’re dying to say something.” His eye contact maintained. It was as if he was trying to carve my soul out with just his eyes.
“Fu- Fuck you.” I managed to cough out, and the next thing I know is everything went dark. After Merlin knows how long, I open my eyes but all I can see is pitch black still. It was as if I was stuck in a dream of an eternity of hell.
“Hello?!” I said while banging on the wall around me. “Where am I?? Can anybody hear me??!” I asked frantically, I could feel like my heartbeat beginning to race and I started sweating. Just as I was trying to calm myself down somebody- another tall and skinny figure opened the door and the last thing I heard was “Stupefy” It was the most powerful stunning spell she had ever felt. She felt the world around her slowly began to fade until she was knocked out.
