Chapter 1: The Beginning

“Rise up, rise up! Soldier, hunter . Bearer of the earth, you will rise again : Arise, take the souls of those who wish to steal you away from the moon. Destroy not the people that seek thy life. Rise from the death of the innocent. Get up. Rise and arise from the dead, and the life of the dying and the dying mother . Take the souls of the worshipers.”

The words burn in all parts of my body, never have I felt such horrible pain. Fire and words crawl across my eyes, mind, and soul. I can see men and women on there knees, mouths moving. Children lay dead before them, throats slit wide open.

“Get up , get up! You shall rise again: Arise, and take the souls of those who wish to lock you away. Arise. Awake, and arise from the dead, and the life of the dying and the death of the mother. Take the souls of the worshipers."

My mouth opens and closes desperately trying to scream out. My head turns, it moves slowly like its stuck in a thick liquid. I watch as the women slide knifes across there own throats, blood flowing out like a horrible waterfall. My hand reaches out, slowly. Wiggling my fingers I realize that the skin has mostly melted off, leaving charred bone.

"Awake, awake, stand up, stand up, Rise up, and take the world. Arise. Awake, and arise from the dead, and the life of the dying . Take on the worshipers!”

My eyes are open looking into a world of colors I've never seen or even imagined. I bring my hands up to my face, the skin is there but its like clear water. The veins are dark woven colors and words are moving up and down them. Looking up I see a women with impossibly long hair, worlds and galaxies braided into it. Shes all I see. Her hand traces the veins on my face as she moves closer.

Now I'm walking along next to a gold river. The women stands on the other side. Holding hands we walk for what seems like eternity.

I'm falling back, back into a silver fire. Hellfire, my creation, my child, being used to cage me. I see her face and her hair with the galaxies woven in. Rage fills my body, a scream rips through my throat. My hands fly up grabbing the nearest thing and pulling it in. Humans, her creation, her child. So small, so soft, simple, nothing but pureness, they are bound to her, to serve her. Pressing my finger into the there souls I create there freedom and there shackles. Whispering fear, rage, envy, greed, hate, lust, and knowledge into there blackened souls, I have created there freedom and there shackles. Releasing them I sink into the cage that will hold me for all eternity.

europeanlove: I gotta hand it to you. I love reading. I read books everyday. When the book is good I can read it in probably 13 hours. Your story was amazing. Great prose, very imaginative. Incredible dialogue. I am deeply impressed. Keep it up.

dragonswilleise: I loved this book, it was nearly impossible to put down from start to finish. It was fast passed without being overwhelming and slowed down where needed. Overall this was an amazing novel that I will definitely recommend to others.

cicheah: Very well-knit story which sustains one's interest from beginning to end. Most enjoyable and a pleasure to read.

Ben Gauger: Kudos go to Karissa, author of Elements Of Engagement, an otherwise dark and twisted tale of love and workplace intrigue, very 'Fifty Shades of Grey' to be sure, her writing style being very graphic ad otherwise sexually-charged, hence the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' reference, and as for her use of g...

ga1984: I really enjoyed it! Characters were deep and plot was pretty complex. A bit on the violent side but it doesnt detract from the story. Very dark but situations make sense. Ends kinda abruptly and later chapters will need some editing work. I'm assuming there's more in the works?

Tiffany Thomson: This story is not something I would normally pick up and read but I'm so glad I did, I wasn't able to put it down and my husband was yelling at me at 3am to put it down and go to bed (just waited for him to doze back off before picking it back up) I really hope Natalie brings out another book eit...

Carolyn Hahn-Re: I really liked this story! The writing was well done, and the plot was suspenseful. I couldn't stop reading chapter after chapter, on the edge of my seat! The characters were well developed, and true to form. Thank you so much for this wonderful read.

Leah Brown: This was an amazing read! I was hooked from the very first chapter, holding my breadth to see what would happen next. The characters are rich and vibrant, and the world Danielle has created is fascinating. If you love YA, you MUST read this book. Such a smart, brilliant debut novel. I loved it!

Raymond Keith Moon: Great story arc. Nice command of the balance of overview and detail. Feels a bit like a multi-player computer game, but provides satisfying explanations for all the apparent magic. Please keep writing!

Warchief: The biggest problem with the Harry Potter series is that it's all from his point of view. So we never really get to see or understand events from other peoples perspective. I think that they would be more than a few people that want to know what happened at Hogwarts during that last year.As far a...

Alex Reltin: This is a great story! I love how well you go into detail and emotions of Capri, and Mel. You have amazing dialogue and overall it's just a thrill to read! The only critique I could find is that some of the paragraphs should be separated. For example:-"If Nia would have just let me take the car an...

John Smith: This is what Sci Fi is all about. Reads like early Heinlein. In the style of Space Cadets. No esoteric problems..but good ol blaster and space action with a host of relatable characters
