Prologue: Pre-history

What happens when humanity forced nature to change?

IT WILL BE CHANGED.

Animals, plants and the rest of the living nature was pushed to the limits by humanity’s greed...

And all of those endangered species started growing, getting more dangerous and started getting back at us..

Then came the age of the Leap of Evolution, where the monstrous sizes and bloodlust of every other living being has evidently surpassed human’s expectations... and defenses. Soon, humanity’s greed consumed them, followed by being physically consumed by the monsters nature made to defend itself.

The hunted became the hunter. The endangered became dangerous. The predator became the prey.

Skip to decades after the Leap of Evolution.

The human population was reduced to ¼ of its original size. Nature reclaimed most of the earth’s surface to its primal look. Everything feels natural, and deadly.

Everyone started losing hope, and sanity. Good thing too. As the greatest minds loses their grip on reality, they got in touched with the very thing killing them: Nature.

Weirdly enough, magic was real. But it was only available to those who are intelligent and crazy enough. And so, the greatest minds in the world was so in out of touch with reality and closely attuned to nature, that they started developing weird tools, things that took shape of their vague will and constructed so they can channel their will.

Thus, they earned the monicker “The Primeval Magicians”. They were also the one the first defenders of nature, and humankind. Some even treated them as the Heroes of Myth, or Gods.

And so passed a few more centuries. Nature was still on its Killer Mode, but humans now stand a chance again. You could say that the balance was returned. And thanks to proper conducts and established regulations, infrastructures and facilities that cater to these kind of subjects are made. Multiple guilds, laboratories, schools and other buildings started popping up one after another, so that harnessing and processing this resource would be properly done.

And why does this concern you?

Well, you are handpicked from many other folks all around the world, since you displayed capabilities and traits similar to those who have made the impossible happen. In short, you can reproduce what layman people called “magic”.

You were delivered to us, so we can hone you to be those “Heroes of Myth”, to help humanity balance the fight against the natural forces.

You are now a practitioner of magic, an agent of science, and the balancer of both. You are now a student of....Hephaestus School of Magecraft, Magitech and Magesmith!
