Rather Death

Do you see now why I didn’t want you to leave? Chaos will destroy you. The people who you wish to protect despise you! You’re a thorn in their side… Come home… My light… My soul… Come back to me… No one will blame you… You are still young... They’ll understand… Return and I will give you your wings that you so deserve... Come home… Let me help you and when you are older you will be better prepared to safe the Worlds of all the Realms… That what you love… You must hurry! There is danger near you!

I do not wish to leave them… Will and Haward… I would rather die…Then leave them all behind! Even if they think I’m a monster I’ll stay and prove them all wrong!

“What does it mean to be a monster?” Arialita asked as soon as Stein picked her up waking her from her sorrow encased dream…

“It is something or someone who only wishes to do harm to everyone, someone who has no conscience.” He said softly, and she closed her eyes to return back to her restless sleep.

Am I truly a monster? No… It can’t be! I don’t wish harm on anyone… Conscience… Emotions… are they not the same in some ways? If so I already lost that once… What is to say I will not lose it again… What is to say my power will not harm someone someday… I’m so afraid! Please someone help!

“You’re finally awake.” Haward said from next to her, he bore a grin so frightening that even Arialita felt uncomfortable.

“Haward… I…” She had to say it at least try… That she felt a connection with him… That it reminds her of her love for Will and might be…

“My little baby sister… How I’ve missed you! I was waiting for the day we would meet again… You the light and me the darkness…”

“What?” She looked at him confused… Why…

“Oh… I forgot. You destroyed most of your memories… Try to remember. Your former self will always retain the memories of your previous life. It’s strange that when you sing the song of the Forbidden it kills you in mind, body and soul; when you’re in your mortal form… But listen to this when you sing it, sure it threatens to kill you here, but it connects your soul to your true self… Something beautiful, gloriously magnificent… And the only why I’ll ever have the chance at having that position, that power you’re so close to attaining is for me to kill you… then I’ll make Chaos obey me and I’ll rule the Universes!” He gloated.

“Haward why would you…”

“Come now Sis! Remember my real name! Our true name… It’s the opposite of you mortal name you were given….” He took out a small knife that glinted within the darkness as the bit of light that danced still in the room reflected off it.

“Atila-Ira…” She only then noticed that her own powers weren’t working, she swiped her hand tried to fend him off, but..

“Yes. Oh and don’t even bother, when we touch…” He held up her hand that he held in his.

“Our powers cancel each other out… We being opposites… And despite the Prophesy warning about killing either of us… We can kill each other!” His smile was grim and filled with seductive lust… He was clearly ecstatic about the chance to kill someone… Her…

“Now die!” In the split moment that Arialita had closed her eyes shut seconds became minutes and minutes became hours and soon she didn’t know how long she had been waiting for that pain to flare through her body that is to kill her.

“Run!” A familiar voice shouted at her.

“Run Lita!” She opened her eyes and saw Will struggling with Haward… The knife just inches away from Will’s heart…

“Will… Will!” She called out after him.

“Just run! He wants you!” Arialita wanted so desperately to step closer to Will… The knife in Haward’s hands fighting inch for inch closer to Will’s heart as his own strength and power came back after their brief touch…

“No…”

“Of course she won’t run! She’s a monster just like me, even as she denies it, she’s the reason everyone will one day suffer. That is why I must kill her now.” He looked on in venom at Arialita.

“No… I…”

“You were so fragile then too! Me being near you almost killed you once… And then I was forced into exile! Me! Everything taken from me! I’ve lived here in the realms breeding darkness, breeding ‘evil’ as to gain more power! To Kill you when the time comes! But I’m sick of waiting!”

“Lita!” Mira just then, having heard the noise from her own room just down the hall, had grabbed Arialita by her hand and started to run leaving Holland to fend off Haward from Will.

“This just gets so much more interesting so much faster!” Haward laughed and cold filled the room.

“You think you can beat me? Believe me when I say I’m stronger than her. Unlike her having ran from her safe haven in the Void protected by it as if she was some fragile flower that could wither and die at any moment, it, the Void, it casted me out just as if I was some cancer, tearing me from my baby sister! And our soulless big sis; Chaos, she’ll not let her get away so easily… Chaos might have grown stronger over the years as I grew stronger, but I’ll not though let Chaos do as she pleases, I’ll rule over her and gain even more power! But she, your precious ‘Lita’!” Haward stood there knife at the ready to cut through either Holland or Will’s throats.

“She’ll destroy the world’s a want to rule! That’s why Chaos is after her and not me!”

“She’ll never do that!” Will said defending Arialita’s kind nature.

“You have so much faith in her! You’re blinded! She’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing!” He grinned and in that moment Holland could make out Sharp teeth…

“You’re a Nexie… Half at least…”

“Smart ass! Yes a Nexie and my father a shape shifter. Who was chosen to be a Guardian over a thousand years ago… I lived for so long… Died many time too! And now I finally have my chance to take back what is rightfully mine! And you’re here trying to stop me… Emmetity.” Just as that Haward had frozen time completely with less effort than it had taken for Arialita the first time.

Everywhere he went, casually walking, playing cat and mouse, everyone stood completely still…

“Come on out A-ri-a-li-ta.” He said every syllable with emphasizes .

“If you don’t come out I’ll go back and kill everyone!”

“No!” She stepped from out a room at the far end of the hall he had just turned into.

“Good girl. You’re still though denying that you are evil… More so than me!”

“I might be a monster, but at least I don’t let it control me like you do your own monster!” She hissed out staying as far away from him as she could.

“You were allowed to stay in the Void… You don’t know at all how it felt to be ripped away and thrown from your very home and family!” He cried out, the memory of it paining him.

“I do know! My family was killed, killed by the very man than took me from them in the first place, I might not remember, but my heart still cries out when I think of what I could have had! But at least I have more people now that I care for than I believe I had then! Even with all the things that happens around me!” She said, her voice hoarse with tears already falling to the ground.

“And you’ll be their death!”

“No I won’t, and neither will I allow you to ever harm them again! I’d rather die!” She clasped her hands together as she always did before she started to sing a Verse…

“Then let me kill you!” he screamed out after her, running to stop her from saying even one word.

“Éev-Ré Dés Sa-fé Éev-Ré Dés Ero-dé Éev-Ré Dés La-Fí… Evól Leah-A Lo-kay-Têh Seïn…” As she sang she had embraced Haward, her ‘Gift’ overflowing was too much for their touch no to cancel her will…

“I guess you were right I am a monster!” She said as she prepared the last few words to a new part to the Verse…

“Revér Creä…” She stole her last breath, ending her brother, Haward’s, life. She had killed him…

Only monsters kill their own family… I’m so sorry... But I guess that ends it all… We’ll never live again... I remember everything now… But this isn’t the end…

Come home…

Home? I don’t even know where that is! I’ve never known…

Come home…

Time had begun to flow again, there where Haward and Arialita stood, only their clothes still remained, and dead dust and burned carpet was proof of Mira’s word, that she had seen Haward’s body go up in flames, after Arialita passed away. Mira had witnessed their end in that very moment as she was the first to be there. She had told them that Arialita’s own ‘corpse’ had disintegrated into a million lights…

“Lita…” Will fell to his knees, he knew she was gone… Gone forever… the sword that Arialita had made from the shattered Aurora light bridge tightly gripped in his hand ready this to have fought Haward.

“No!” Richard screamed grabbing at the light blue dress that was heaped on the ground, it’s wearer vanished…

“No… I just got her back…” Richard scurried back to his feet grabbing the man that had continuously called his daughter a monster…

“It’s all your fault! She thought that it was the only way to keep us safe! You’re to blame! You had been her reason! Now… Now she’s gone…” His arms dropped to his sides having lost all strength to get his revenge on someone, anyone…

“It’s not all their fault… Haward he wanted to kill her… He kept saying they were brother and sister and that only they could kill each other without any consequences…” Holland said, guilt filled him, the burden that he failed to safe one person… He a Guardian…

“We all failed her…” Will’s soft brittle voice pierced the deadly silence once again…

Stein stood there to the shadows, her death having not harmed or changed him one bit…

(“She’s still here with us…”)

Caleb stared on in confusion… Still able to see her in the faint light that still shined on the future.

(“It isn’t over… I don’t know when or how long, but she’ll come back, she’ll come home to all of this… to all of us…”)

Shadow and his pack turned to walk knowing that their only purpose was to have some why to save their lost family, their pack and to bring back the time in which Luna was still alive…

(“Time to rebuild our home… It was foolish to believe that time could be reversed…”)

“I’m so sorry…” Henry stood their gazing Will and his adopted family embracing each other…

(“I failed them… I failed her most of all… I thought I could save her… That daring brave girl…”) Henry gestured to his followers, his ‘clan’ to move out, it had always been clear they weren’t welcomed there… They only stayed because of the girl…

(“It would be best we not tell the twins that their new best friend and sister is dead… Maybe rather that she was able to go with the Angels…”) Madam Whitechapel was again staring ‘used to it’ at the ‘children’ that were trying to comfort each other. Will she knew was taking it the hardest. To think in only such a short while so many people had come to love that little girl…

(“Lita… I love you! Please come back!”) Will wanted to scream out, but the words seemed to have been sealed away…

Home…

Peaceful nothingness…

Protective darkness…

Embracing light…
