Chapter 36: Italy- Venice- Date?

The next morning Mia and Dave woke up on the couch. Two strong arms around her waist held her tightly and it made her feel secure. Even though it wasn’t that comfortable, it was the best sleep Mia had in a long long time.

“Good morning, Tesoro.” Dave said in a sexy husky voice, it send a shiver up her spine. She turned her head and was captivated by his intense gaze. For a moment she was lost in her thoughts and couldn't think of a proper response. Is he even real? Or am I dreaming? He smirked and cleared his throat. “You know if you keep looking at me like that I will forget about our date today and take you to your room and we won’t leave for a long time.” He smirked while winking at Mia. He had this look on his face like he was already imagining what he would do to her.

“Uhm good morning.” Mia said nervously. Suddenly her mind registered what he said. “Wait, did you say date? When did we talk about a date?” Mia looked at him with a confused expression.

“I told you we were going to Venice.”

“Yes, you said we’re going to Venice, but nothing about a date.”

“So? It was implied.”

“That is not how you ask someone on a date. Now I don’t feel like going anymore.” Mia stood up from the couch and started walking out of the living room. He held her hand preventing her from going further. He pulled her to him and locked her in his embrace, she stood with her back against him.

“Non allontanarti da me così, Tesoro. (Don’t walk away from me like that, beautiful)” Dave said and Mia sucked in a breath. His hand rose up and stroked her cheek. She loved it when he spoke Italian to her, even if she couldn’t understand a word.

“I’m going home to get ready. I will be back in half an hour. Be ready. Then I’ll show you how I ask someone out on a date.” He whispered in her ear and placed a kiss under her ear. The way he talked was so sensual. She couldn’t utter a word so she gulped and nodded. After he left Mia took a shower and readied herself. She chose a pair of blue ripped jeans and a purple off-shoulder top. She was just putting on her shoes when there was a knock at the door.

When Mia opened the door Dave stood there with a bouquet of roses. “Rose per una rosa.” He handed her the bouquet while placing a quick kiss on her cheek. “Anche le più belle rose sembrano semplici rispetto alla Sua bellezza. (Even the prettiest roses seem plain in comparison to your beauty)” he said in her ear. Mia didn’t really understand what he said but that didn’t keep her cheeks from blushing. He backed away a little and was staring in her eyes. “May I have the honor of taking this pretty rose out on a date?” Mia was so lost in everything he just did. She just leaned over and gave him a kiss.

“Yes! And thank you for the roses. I’ll just put them in a vase.”

When Mia came back he was leaning on the door frame. His eyes lit up when he saw her. He held out his and she laced her fingers with his. He led her to his car and held the passenger seat door open for her while she sat in the car. As he was about to start driving he looked at her.

“Before I forget again.” He leaned over and opened the glove compartment and pulled out a small pouch. He took out something. “I believe this is yours.” It was the good luck bracelet Seven gave to Mia. The one she lost.

“Where did you find this?” Mia asked while he was putting it on her wrist. He placed a kiss on the skin right next to it. All she managed to do was smile and blush.

“You remember the day on the beach right?” Mia nodded. “It got stuck on my necklace that day. I saw it later on. You know it kept me reminding of you. Whenever I looked at it, it gave me hope that we would meet again somehow. And we did.” he winked at her and she smiled back. He started driving.

“I guess it really was lucky.” Mia mumbled.

“What?” he looks at me with a side glance.

“Nothing.” she smiled. During the rest of the ride they started talking about random things like usual. Before yesterday they used to talk on the phone for hours. It was so easy for her to talk to him. The conversations started themselves. With each day, each conversation they got to know more about each other. He bought some food along the way and they had breakfast while driving.

After parking the car they walked around a bit. Dave bought a bottle of wine from one of the shops and then they walked over to a gondola. He helped Mia climb it and the ride started. It was so relaxing. Mia was leaning against his chest, his arm enveloped her and his chin rested against the side of her head. He opened the wine, he forgot about glasses or cups to drink from so they sipped from the bottle taking turns. Mia felt at peace in his arms.

After the gondola ride they walked over to a local diner and had lunch. Then they walked over to the beach.

“Why didn’t you tell me we would be going to the beach? I would have brought clothes to change in.” Mia said semi angry at him.

“It wasn’t really planned. When we were walking I saw the beach and thought why not.” They walked into one of the shops and bought some swim-wear. Which he insisted on paying for. They went for a swim and had a lot of fun. After the swim they walked along the shore. By now the sun started to set and everything was just feeling so romantic. He stopped walking and spun her around. His hand rested on her hips and he was looking at her with so much adoration. He leaned in and gave Mia a sweet kiss on her lips. “Mia, ever since I saw you I was attracted to you. Every encounter we had intrigued me more. After the last time we spoke you were on my mind constantly but I couldn’t find you anywhere. Just when I started losing hope that I would ever see you again you appeared again. You know the first time I saw you outside the house I thought I was hallucinating. When we started talking over the phone I started to get to know more about you and I started to feel more towards you. I wanted to see you every day talk, to you, kiss you just be in your presence. If I didn’t talk to you one day I couldn’t sleep. I love watching you smile. And I love it more when I’m the reason you smile. So will you give me the honor of being the reason you smile? Will you be my girlfriend officially?”

Everything he said was just so perfect. The way he looked at Mia made her feel really special and she could see he really cared about her. Mia thought she would be an idiot to say no to this man. She now knew what Enzo meant when he said everything would be clear when Dave would ask.

“Yes. I would really like that.” As soon as those words left her mouth he smiled widely. He pulled her closer to him and kissed her as he was savoring every moment. They spend some more time on the beach. By the time they reached the house they were both so exhausted it didn't take much effort to fall asleep.
