Chapter 14: light and dark

I jerked my hand back and stared at the circle curiously. After a moment, I put my hand against the surface of the circle. It slowly swirled beneath my hand. I pushed my hand farther. It slipped through the circle again. I pulled my hand back out and walked to the edge of the circle. I looked around the edge. I only saw darkness. I put my hand through it again. To my suprise, I never saw it come out the other side.

I pulled my hand back through and stood there, staring at my hand. My senses told me to walk away from the circle, but curiosity got the better of me. I stepped back around to the front of the circle. I took a deep breath before going through it.

I woke to the sound of footsteps. I lifted me head sleepily and looked around. It was still dark out. I had fallen asleep outside the door of the room in which Alpha Eli was in. I didn't see anyone, but I heard someone. I sniffed the air. I could smell a familiar scent. I sighed.

"What do you want?" I ask, closing me eyes and leaning my head against the wall.

I heard a raspy chuckle. "You know what." Was the reply.

"Well, you're not going to get it, go away." I said.

"Now, now. That's no way to treat your brother, is it?" He asked with fake hurt.

"Oh, cut the act. You're not my brother, not anymore at least." I replied, never opening my eyes.

"That hurts." He said, I rolled my eyes. "Well, even if I'm not your brother anymore, I still love you sis."

"Oh sure!" I snorted. "You love me? Ha! I'd believe, except for the fact that you never loved me. You didn't love me then, and you don't live me now."

"Oh, but I do. Remember all our fun times?" He asked. He was really getting on my nerves.

"Oh yeah, I remember the fun times, you forced me to eat slugs, drink sewage water, and to cut myself! When I was twelve, might I add!" I screamed at him angrily, still not opening my eyes.

"You little!" He screamed. I heard him growl low, and before I knew it, his hand was around my neck. I let out a dark, choked laugh.

"What? You gonna choke me?" I ask with a dark chuckle.

"I should, and I will." He growled angrily. His hand tightened around my throat, making it harder to breath.

"Wouldn't... be... the first... time." I said between gasps of air. My eyes stayed closed through it all. I was not going to look at him, I wasn't even going to name him. He was the person that told my pack about what happened. He had been my brother, but he had betrayed me. He never was a nice and caring brother, but I never would have suspected that he would be that cruel to me.

"You better shut your mouth, before I do it for you." He warned.

I just chuckled darkly, though it sounded more like a cough. His hand closed more tightly around my throat. My lungs began to burn from lack of air. I would not give him any satisfaction though. I just kept my head high, but I kept my fist tighter.

In his anger at not getting a reaction, he growled low and pushed my head against the wall, crushing my lungs. It began to get hard to stay awake, so I tensed my arm.

I heard him shift his position. I calculated where he would be, and swung my fist. I felt my fist collide with his stomach. He groaned and his grip on my neck loosened. I punched again, this time hitting his jaw as he doubled over. His grip on my neck came off and I was on my feet in a flash.

I felt a weird sensation pass over me as I stepped through. When the sensation stopped, I was no longer in the forest. I was in a building of some sort. There was no windows and no doors. The only thing there was, was two rooms.

Neither of the rooms had doors. One room was dark and shadowy. The other room was brightly lit and each room had a bed. The first room had the walls painted black, the bed was as dark as the walls and there was not a single bit of light.

The second room had light purple walls. The bed was a shade of darker purple and a brilliant light shown from no seen source. I blinked as I looked at the bright light. I was exhausted.

I wanted to go to sleep, but I didn't think I could sleep in a brightly lit room. I turned to the dark room. I didn't think I could sleep in the shadows either though, not after the forest. I turned back to the second room and walked towards it. I saw that the light did have a source. I squinted at the light. It dimmed some, seemingly on my command. I walked to the bed and sat on it.

It was soft and I seemed to sink into it. I yawned and pulled the covers away. I layed down and pulled the covers back up. Within seconds, I was asleep.

Alpha Eli

I woke up to a commotion outside the room. I was on my feet quickly. I didn't want to leave Zenya, but I had to check on it. My chair fell over when I got up. I ran to the door.

I was just pushing the door open when something slammed into it and slammed it shut again. I pushed again, but the door was jammed. I cursed and ran to the other door. I flung it open and sprinted out.

I weaved through the maze of boxes and crates, following the noises of the fight. I rounded the corner and saw Rae being thrown into a stack of crates and boxes. They toppled over. Rae had a busted lip and her nose was bleeding. I looked and saw a man approaching her. I immediately sprinted at him, already changing into wolf form.

From then on, I let EliMoon take over. I left him to do what was needed while I retreated into myself.
