The hidden door closed behind them and Teplan and Terah found themselves in a small field of low-lying shrubs. Slowly, their eyes and ears adjusted to the new surroundings. The nearby forest was completely dark and crisp air tickled their skin.
“Well, the pig farm is upstream from here,” Teplan said.
“We have to walk north. So… that way,” Terah said pointing to their right, underneath the shine of the moon. As soon as they both approved the direction, the roar of a truck engine burst alive behind them. Two headlights fought their way through the bushes and were directed straight at them. Teplan and Terah froze in their places and stared at the unsuspected terror that was quickly approaching.
It did not take long for them to realize what was happening. “RUN!” Teplan shouted.
