63 OUT OF THE WAY
With one arm stretched over the passenger headrest, Ian slammed his truck into reverse and jammed the gas pedal to the floor. As his truck shot backwards, his knuckles turned white from gripping the wheel so hard. The tractor’s bucket kept pace and bounced around, only a few feet away.
“Man, that’s a fast tractor,” he mumbled as turned his head to look out the back window. Small rocks that covered the driveway flew everywhere as the tractor chased the truck backwards down the driveway. Clouds of dust swirled along behind them.
With one hand on the wheel and driving in reverse, Ian pressed a button on his dashboard for the first time. He maintained his speed, even though he was unsure what the outcome would be. Suddenly, a loud pop blasted from the right side of the tractor, which then dropped about a foot in height, and immediately veered right off the driveway into the ditch.
