Acts Chapter 11

1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard thatthe Gentiles had also received the word of God.

2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalemthey that were of thecircumcision contended with him

3 SayingThou wentest in to men uncircumcisedand didst eatwith them.

4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginningandexpounded it by order unto themsaying

5 I was in the city of Joppa prayingand in a trance I saw avisionA certain vessel descendas it had been a greatsheetlet down from heaven by four cornersand it came evento me

6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyesI considered and saw fourfooted beasts of the earthand wild beastsandcreeping thingsand fowls of the air.

7 And I heard a voice saying unto meArisePeterslay andeat.

8 But I saidNot soLordfor nothing common or unclean hathat any time entered into my mouth.

9 But the voice answered me again from heavenWhat God hathcleansedthat call not thou common.

10 And this was done three timesand all were drawn up againinto heaven.

11 Andbeholdimmediately there were three men already comeunto the house where I wassent from Caesarea unto me.

12 And the Spirit bade me go with themnothing doubting.Moreover these six brethren accompanied meand we enteredinto the man s house

13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his housewhichstood and said unto himSend men to Joppaand call forSimonwhose surname is Peter

14 Who shall tell thee wordswhereby thou and all thy houseshall be saved.

15 And as I began to speakthe Holy Ghost fell on themas on usat the beginning.

16 Then remembered I the word of the Lordhow that he saidJohnindeed baptized with waterbut ye shall be baptized with theHoly Ghost.

17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did untouswho believed on the Lord Jesus Christwhat was Ithat Icould withstand God

18 When they heard these thingsthey held their peaceandglorified GodsayingThen hath God also to the Gentilesgranted repentance unto life.

19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution thatarose about Stephen travelled as far as Pheniceand Cyprus and Antiochpreaching the word to none but unto the Jewsonly.

20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrenewhichwhenthey were come to Antiochspake unto the Grecianspreachingthe LORD Jesus.

21 And the hand of the Lord was with themand a great numberbelievedand turned unto the Lord.

22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the churchwhich was in Jerusalemand they sent forth Barnabasthat heshould go as far as Antioch.

23 Whowhen he cameand had seen the grace of Godwas gladand exhorted them allthat with purpose of heart they wouldcleave unto the Lord.

24 For he was a good manand full of the Holy Ghost and offaithand much people was added unto the Lord.

25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsusfor to seek Saul

26 And when he had found himhe brought him unto Antioch. And itcame to passthat a whole year they assembled themselves withthe churchand taught much people. And the disciples werecalled Christians first in Antioch.

27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

28 And there stood up one of them named Agabusand signified bythe Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout allthe worldwhich came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

29 Then the disciplesevery man according to his abilitydetermined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt inJudaea

30 Which also they didand sent it to the elders by the hands ofBarnabas and Saul.
