Matthew Chapter 11

And it came to passwhen Jesus had made an end of commandinghis twelve discipleshe departed thence to teach and topreach in their cities.

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christhesent two of his disciples

And said unto himArt thou he that should comeor do we lookfor another

Jesus answered and said unto themGo and shew John againthose things which ye do hear and see

The blind receive their sightand the lame walkthe lepersare cleansedand the deaf hearthe dead are raised upandthe poor have the gospel preached to them.

And blessed is hewhosoever shall not be offended in me.

And as they departedJesus began to say unto the multitudesconcerning JohnWhat went ye out into the wilderness to seeA reed shaken with the wind

But what went ye out for to seeA man clothed in softraimentbeholdthey that wear soft clothing are in kingshouses.

But what went ye out for to seeA prophetyeaI say untoyouand more than a prophet.

For this is heof whom it is writtenBeholdI send mymessenger before thy facewhich shall prepare thy way beforethee.

Verily I say unto youAmong them that are born of women therehath not risen a greater than John the Baptist notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven isgreater than he.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom ofheaven suffereth violenceand the violent take it by force.

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

And if ye will receive itthis is Eliaswhich was for tocome.

He that hath ears to hearlet him hear.

But whereunto shall I liken this generationIt is like untochildren sitting in the marketsand calling unto theirfellows

And sayingWe have piped unto youand ye have not dancedwehave mourned unto youand ye have not lamented.

For John came neither eating nor drinkingand they sayHehath a devil.

The Son of man came eating and drinkingand they sayBeholda man gluttonousand a winebibbera friend of publicans andsinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mightyworks were donebecause they repented not

Woe unto theeChorazinwoe unto theeBethsaidafor if themighty workswhich were done in youhad been done in Tyreand Sidonthey would have repented long ago in sackcloth andashes.

But I say unto youIt shall be more tolerable for Tyre andSidon at the day of judgmentthan for you.

And thouCapernaumwhich art exalted unto heavenshalt bebrought down to hellfor if the mighty workswhich have beendone in theehad been done in Sodomit would have remaineduntil this day.

But I say unto youThat it shall be more tolerable for theland of Sodom in the day of judgmentthan for thee.

At that time Jesus answered and saidI thank theeO Father Lord of heaven and earthbecause thou hast hid these thingsfrom the wise and prudentand hast revealed them unto babes.

Even soFatherfor so it seemed good in thy sight.

All things are delivered unto me of my Fatherand no manknoweth the Sonbut the Fatherneither knoweth any man theFathersave the Sonand he to whomsoever the Son will revealhim.

Come unto meall ye that labour and are heavy ladenand Iwill give you rest.

Take my yoke upon youand learn of mefor I am meek andlowly in heartand ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easyand my burden is light.
