Romans Chapter 7

Know ye notbrethren for I speak to them that know thelaw how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as heliveth

For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to herhusband so long as he livethbut if the husband be deadsheis loosed from the law of her husband.

So then ifwhile her husband livethshe be married toanother manshe shall be called an adulteressbut if herhusband be deadshe is free from that lawso that she is noadulteressthough she be married to another man.

Whereforemy brethrenye also are become dead to the law bythe body of Christthat ye should be married to anotherevento him who is raised from the deadthat we should bring forthfruit unto God.

For when we were in the fleshthe motions of sinswhich wereby the lawdid work in our members to bring forth fruit untodeath.

But now we are delivered from the lawthat being dead whereinwe were heldthat we should serve in newness of spiritandnot in the oldness of the letter.

What shall we say thenIs the law sinGod forbid. NayI hadnot known sinbut by the lawfor I had not known lustexcept the law had saidThou shalt not covet.

But sintaking occasion by the commandmentwrought in me allmanner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

For I was alive without the law oncebut when the commandmentcamesin revivedand I died.

And the commandmentwhich was ordained to lifeI found to beunto death.

For sintaking occasion by the commandmentdeceived meandby it slew me.

Wherefore the law is holyand the commandment holyand justand good.

Was then that which is good made death unto meGod forbid. But sinthat it might appear sinworking death in me by thatwhich is goodthat sin by the commandment might becomeexceeding sinful.

For we know that the law is spiritualbut I am carnalsoldunder sin.

For that which I do I allow notfor what I wouldthat do Inotbut what I hatethat do I.

If then I do that which I would notI consent unto the lawthat it is good.

Now then it is no more I that do itbut sin that dwelleth inme.

For I know that in methat isin my flesh dwelleth no goodthingfor to will is present with mebut how to perform thatwhich is good I find not.

For the good that I would I do notbut the evil which I wouldnotthat I do.

Now if I do that I would notit is no more I that do itbutsin that dwelleth in me.

I find then a lawthatwhen I would do goodevil is presentwith me.

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man

But I see another law in my memberswarring against the lawof my mindand bringing me into captivity to the law of sinwhich is in my members.

O wretched man that I amwho shall deliver me from the bodyof this death

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with themind I myself serve the law of Godbut with the flesh the lawof sin.
