Corinthians Chapter 12
Now concerning spiritual giftsbrethrenI would not have youignorant.
Ye know that ye were Gentilescarried away unto these dumbidolseven as ye were led.
Wherefore I give you to understandthat no man speaking bythe Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursedand that no man cansay that Jesus is the Lordbut by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are diversities of giftsbut the same Spirit.
And there are differences of administrationsbut the sameLord.
And there are diversities of operationsbut it is the sameGod which worketh all in all.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man toprofit withal.
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdomtoanother the word of knowledge by the same Spirit
To another faith by the same Spiritto another the gifts ofhealing by the same Spirit
To another the working of miraclesto another prophecytoanother discerning of spiritsto another divers kinds oftonguesto another the interpretation of tongues
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit dividing to every man severally as he will.
For as the body is oneand hath many membersand all themembers of that one bodybeing manyare one bodyso also isChrist.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one bodywhetherwe be Jews or Gentileswhether we be bond or freeand havebeen all made to drink into one Spirit.
For the body is not one memberbut many.
If the foot shall sayBecause I am not the handI am not ofthe bodyis it therefore not of the body
And if the ear shall sayBecause I am not the eyeI am notof the bodyis it therefore not of the body
If the whole body were an eyewhere were the hearingIf thewhole were hearingwhere were the smelling
But now hath God set the members every one of them in thebodyas it hath pleased him.
And if they were all one memberwhere were the body
But now are they many membersyet but one body.
And the eye cannot say unto the handI have no need of theenor again the head to the feetI have no need of you.
Naymuch more those members of the bodywhich seem to bemore feebleare necessary
And those members of the bodywhich we think to be lesshonourableupon these we bestow more abundant honourand ouruncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
For our comely parts have no needbut God hath tempered thebody togetherhaving given more abundant honour to that partwhich lacked.
That there should be no schism in the bodybut that themembers should have the same care one for another.
And whether one member sufferall the members suffer with itor one member be honouredall the members rejoice with it.
Now ye are the body of Christand members in particular.
And God hath set some in the churchfirst apostles secondarily prophetsthirdly teachersafter that miracles then gifts of healingshelpsgovernmentsdiversities oftongues.
Are all apostlesare all prophetsare all teachersare allworkers of miracles
Have all the gifts of healingdo all speak with tonguesdoall interpret
But covet earnestly the best giftsand yet shew I unto you amore excellent way.
