Philippians Chapter 1

Paul and Timotheusthe servants of Jesus Christto all thesaints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippiwith the bishopsand deacons

Grace be unto youand peacefrom God our Fatherand fromthe Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request withjoy

For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day untilnow

Being confident of this very thingthat he which hath begun agood work in you will perform it until the day of JesusChrist

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you allbecause Ihave you in my heartinasmuch as both in my bondsand in thedefence and confirmation of the gospelye all are partakersof my grace.

For God is my recordhow greatly I long after you all in thebowels of Jesus Christ.

And this I praythat your love may abound yet more and morein knowledge and in all judgment

That ye may approve things that are excellentthat ye may besincere and without offence till the day of Christ.

Being filled with the fruits of righteousnesswhich are byJesus Christunto the glory and praise of God.

But I would ye should understandbrethrenthat the thingswhich happened unto me have fallen out rather unto thefurtherance of the gospel

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palaceandin all other places

And many of the brethren in the Lordwaxing confident by mybondsare much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strifeand somealso of good will

The one preach Christ of contentionnot sincerelysupposingto add affliction to my bonds

But the other of loveknowing that I am set for the defenceof the gospel.

What thennotwithstandingevery waywhether in pretenceorin truthChrist is preachedand I therein do rejoiceyea and will rejoice.

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through yourprayerand the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ

According to my earnest expectation and my hopethat innothing I shall be ashamedbut that with all boldnessasalwaysso now also Christ shall be magnified in my body whether it be by lifeor by death.

For to me to live is Christand to die is gain.

But if I live in the fleshthis is the fruit of my labouryet what I shall choose I wot not.

For I am in a strait betwixt twohaving a desire to departand to be with Christwhich is far better

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

And having this confidenceI know that I shall abide andcontinue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith

That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ forme by my coming to you again.

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel ofChristthat whether I come and see youor else be absentImay hear of your affairsthat ye stand fast in one spirit with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel

And in nothing terrified by your adversarieswhich is to theman evident token of perditionbut to you of salvationandthat of God.

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christnot only tobelieve on himbut also to suffer for his sake

Having the same conflict which ye saw in meand now hear tobe in me.
