Thessalonians Chapter 2

For yourselvesbrethrenknow our entrance in unto youthatit was not in vain

But even after that we had suffered beforeand wereshamefully entreatedas ye knowat Philippiwe were bold inour God to speak unto you the gospel of God with muchcontention.

For our exhortation was not of deceitnor of uncleannessnorin guile

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with thegospeleven so we speaknot as pleasing menbut Godwhichtrieth our hearts.

For neither at any time used we flattering wordsas ye knownor a cloke of covetousnessGod is witness

Nor of men sought we gloryneither of younor yet of otherswhen we might have been burdensomeas the apostles of Christ.

But we were gentle among youeven as a nurse cherisheth herchildren

So being affectionately desirous of youwe were willing tohave imparted unto younot the gospel of God onlybut alsoour own soulsbecause ye were dear unto us.

For ye rememberbrethrenour labour and travailforlabouring night and daybecause we would not be chargeableunto any of youwe preached unto you the gospel of God.

Ye are witnessesand God alsohow holily and justly andunblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every oneof youas a father doth his children

That ye would walk worthy of Godwho hath called you unto hiskingdom and glory.

For this cause also thank we God without ceasingbecause when ye received the word of God which ye heard of usyereceived it not as the word of menbut as it is in truththeword of Godwhich effectually worketh also in you thatbelieve.

For yebrethrenbecame followers of the churches of Godwhich in Judaea are in Christ Jesusfor ye also have sufferedlike things of your own countrymeneven as they have of theJews

Who both killed the Lord Jesusand their own prophetsandhave persecuted usand they please not Godand are contraryto all men

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might besavedto fill up their sins alwayfor the wrath is come uponthem to the uttermost.

But webrethrenbeing taken from you for a short time inpresencenot in heartendeavoured the more abundantly to seeyour face with great desire.

Wherefore we would have come unto youeven I Paulonce andagainbut Satan hindered us.

For what is our hopeor joyor crown of rejoicingAre noteven ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at hiscoming

For ye are our glory and joy.
