Matthew Chapter 19
1 And it came to passthat when Jesus had finished thesesayingshe departed from Galileeand came into the coasts ofJudaea beyond Jordan
2 And great multitudes followed himand he healed them there.
3 The Pharisees also came unto himtempting himand sayingunto himIs it lawful for a man to put away his wife forevery cause
4 And he answered and said unto themHave ye not readthat hewhich made them at the beginning made them male and female
5 And saidFor this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall cleave to his wifeand they twain shall be oneflesh
6 Wherefore they are no more twainbut one flesh. Whattherefore God hath joined togetherlet not man put asunder.
7 They say unto himWhy did Moses then command to give awriting of divorcementand to put her away
8 He saith unto themMoses because of the hardness of yourhearts suffered you to put away your wivesbut from thebeginning it was not so.
9 And I say unto youWhosoever shall put away his wifeexceptit be for fornicationand shall marry anothercommittethadulteryand whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commitadultery.
10 His disciples say unto himIf the case of the man be so withhis wifeit is not good to marry.
11 But he said unto themAll men cannot receive this sayingsave they to whom it is given.
12 For there are some eunuchswhich were so born from theirmother s womband there are some eunuchswhich were madeeunuchs of menand there be eunuchswhich have madethemselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven s sake. He thatis able to receive itlet him receive it.
13 Then were there brought unto him little childrenthat heshould put his hands on themand prayand the disciplesrebuked them.
14 But Jesus saidSuffer little childrenand forbid them not to come unto mefor of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on themand departed thence.
16 Andbeholdone came and said unto himGood Masterwhatgood thing shall I dothat I may have eternal life
17 And he said unto himWhy callest thou me goodthere is nonegood but onethat isGodbut if thou wilt enter into lifekeep the commandments.
18 He saith unto himWhichJesus saidThou shalt do no murderThou shalt not commit adulteryThou shalt not stealThoushalt not bear false witness
19 Honour thy father and thy motherandThou shalt love thyneighbour as thyself.
20 The young man saith unto himAll these things have I keptfrom my youth upwhat lack I yet
21 Jesus said unto himIf thou wilt be perfectgo and sell thatthou hastand give to the poorand thou shalt have treasurein heavenand come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that sayinghe went awaysorrowfulfor he had great possessions.
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciplesVerily I say unto youThat a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto youIt is easier for a camel to gothrough the eye of a needlethan for a rich man to enter intothe kingdom of God.
25 When his disciples heard itthey were exceedingly amazedsayingWho then can be saved
26 But Jesus beheld themand said unto themWith men this isimpossiblebut with God all things are possible.
27 Then answered Peter and said unto himBeholdwe haveforsaken alland followed theewhat shall we have therefore
28 And Jesus said unto themVerily I say unto youThat ye whichhave followed mein the regeneration when the Son of manshall sit in the throne of his gloryye also shall sit upontwelve thronesjudging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 And every one that hath forsaken housesor brethrenorsistersor fatheror motheror wifeor childrenor landsfor my name s sakeshall receive an hundredfoldand shallinherit everlasting life.
30 But many that are first shall be lastand the last shall befirst.
