Timothy Chapter 1
Paulan apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God ourSaviourand Lord Jesus Christwhich is our hope
Unto Timothymy own son in the faithGracemercyandpeacefrom God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesuswhen I went intoMacedoniathat thou mightest charge some that they teach noother doctrine
Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogieswhichminister questionsrather than godly edifying which is infaithso do.
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heartand of a good conscienceand of faith unfeigned
From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vainjangling
Desiring to be teachers of the lawunderstanding neither whatthey saynor whereof they affirm.
But we know that the law is goodif a man use it lawfully
Knowing thisthat the law is not made for a righteous manbut for the lawless and disobedientfor the ungodly and forsinnersfor unholy and profanefor murderers of fathers andmurderers of mothersfor manslayers
For whoremongersfor them that defile themselves withmankindfor menstealersfor liarsfor perjured personsandif there be any other thing that is contrary to sounddoctrine
According to the glorious gospel of the blessed Godwhich wascommitted to my trust.
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lordwho hath enabled meforthat he counted me faithfulputting me into the ministry
Who was before a blasphemerand a persecutorand injuriousbut I obtained mercybecause I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faithand love which is in Christ Jesus.
This is a faithful sayingand worthy of all acceptationthatChrist Jesus came into the world to save sinnersof whom I amchief.
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercythat in me firstJesus Christ might shew forth all longsufferingfor a patternto them which should hereafter believe on him to lifeeverlasting.
Now unto the King eternalimmortalinvisiblethe only wiseGodbe honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
This charge I commit unto theeson Timothyaccording to theprophecies which went before on theethat thou by themmightest war a good warfare
Holding faithand a good consciencewhich some having putaway concerning faith have made shipwreck
Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexanderwhom I have delivered untoSatanthat they may learn not to blaspheme.
