Matthew Chapter 20
For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is anhouseholderwhich went out early in the morning to hirelabourers into his vineyard.
And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a dayhe sent them into his vineyard.
And he went out about the third hourand saw others standingidle in the marketplace
And said unto themGo ye also into the vineyardandwhatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hourand didlikewise.
And about the eleventh hour he went outand found othersstanding idleand saith unto themWhy stand ye here all theday idle
They say unto himBecause no man hath hired us. He saith untothemGo ye also into the vineyardand whatsoever is rightthat shall ye receive.
So when even was comethe lord of the vineyard saith unto hisstewardCall the labourersand give them their hirebeginning from the last unto the first.
And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hourthey received every man a penny.
But when the first camethey supposed that they should havereceived moreand they likewise received every man a penny.
And when they had received itthey murmured against thegoodman of the house
SayingThese last have wrought but one hourand thou hastmade them equal unto uswhich have borne the burden and heatof the day.
But he answered one of themand saidFriendI do thee nowrongdidst not thou agree with me for a penny
Take that thine isand go thy wayI will give unto thislasteven as unto thee.
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine ownIsthine eye evilbecause I am good
So the last shall be firstand the first lastfor many becalledbut few chosen.
And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciplesapart in the wayand said unto them
Beholdwe go up to Jerusalemand the Son of man shall bebetrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribesand theyshall condemn him to death
And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mockand to scourgeand to crucify himand the third day he shall rise again.
Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with hersonsworshipping himand desiring a certain thing of him.
And he said unto herWhat wilt thouShe saith unto him Grant that these my two sons may sitthe one on thy righthandand the other on the leftin thy kingdom.
But Jesus answered and saidYe know not what ye ask. Are yeable to drink of the cup that I shall drink ofand to bebaptized with the baptism that I am baptized withThey sayunto himWe are able.
And he saith unto themYe shall drink indeed of my cupandbe baptized with the baptism that I am baptized withbut tosit on my right handand on my leftis not mine to givebutit shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of myFather.
And when the ten heard itthey were moved with indignationagainst the two brethren.
But Jesus called them unto himand saidYe know that theprinces of the Gentiles exercise dominion over themand theythat are great exercise authority upon them.
But it shall not be so among youbut whosoever will be greatamong youlet him be your minister
And whosoever will be chief among youlet him be yourservant
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered untobut toministerand to give his life a ransom for many.
And as they departed from Jerichoa great multitude followedhim.
Andbeholdtwo blind men sitting by the way sidewhen theyheard that Jesus passed bycried outsayingHave mercy onusO Lordthou son of David.
And the multitude rebuked thembecause they should hold theirpeacebut they cried the moresayingHave mercy on usOLordthou son of David.
And Jesus stood stilland called themand saidWhat will yethat I shall do unto you
They say unto himLordthat our eyes may be opened.
So Jesus had compassion on themand touched their eyesandimmediately their eyes received sightand they followed him.
