Hebrews Chapter 7

For this Melchisedecking of Salempriest of the most highGodwho met Abraham returning from the slaughter of thekingsand blessed him

To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of allfirst being byinterpretation King of righteousnessand after that also Kingof Salemwhich isKing of peace

Without fatherwithout motherwithout descenthavingneither beginning of daysnor end of lifebut made like untothe Son of Godabideth a priest continually.

Now consider how great this man wasunto whom even thepatriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

And verily they that are of the sons of Leviwho receive theoffice of the priesthoodhave a commandment to take tithes ofthe people according to the lawthat isof their brethren though they come out of the loins of Abraham

But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithesof Abrahamand blessed him that had the promises.

And without all contradiction the less is blessed of thebetter.

And here men that die receive tithesbut there he receiveththemof whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

And as I may so sayLevi alsowho receiveth tithespayedtithes in Abraham.

For he was yet in the loins of his fatherwhen Melchisedecmet him.

If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood forunder it the people received the law what further need wasthere that another priest should rise after the order ofMelchisedecand not be called after the order of Aaron

For the priesthood being changedthere is made of necessity achange also of the law.

For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to anothertribeof which no man gave attendance at the altar.

For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judaof whichtribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

And it is yet far more evidentfor that after the similitudeof Melchisedec there ariseth another priest

Who is madenot after the law of a carnal commandmentbutafter the power of an endless life.

For he testifiethThou art a priest for ever after the orderof Melchisedec.

For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment goingbefore for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

For the law made nothing perfectbut the bringing in of abetter hope didby the which we draw nigh unto God.

And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest

For those priests were made without an oathbut this with anoath by him that said unto himThe Lord sware and will notrepentThou art a priest for ever after the order ofMelchisedec

By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

And they truly were many priestsbecause they were notsuffered to continue by reason of death

But this manbecause he continueth everhath an unchangeablepriesthood.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost thatcome unto God by himseeing he ever liveth to makeintercession for them.

For such an high priest became uswho is holyharmlessundefiledseparate from sinnersand made higher than theheavens

Who needeth not dailyas those high prieststo offer upsacrificefirst for his own sinsand then for the people sfor this he did oncewhen he offered up himself.

For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmitybutthe word of the oathwhich was since the lawmaketh the Sonwho is consecrated for evermore.
