Hebrews Chapter 12

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great acloud of witnesseslet us lay aside every weightand the sinwhich doth so easily beset usand let us run with patiencethe race that is set before us

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faithwhofor the joy that was set before him endured the crossdespising the shameand is set down at the right hand of thethrone of God.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinnersagainst himselflest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Ye have not yet resisted unto bloodstriving against sin.

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto youas unto childrenMy sondespise not thou the chastening ofthe Lordnor faint when thou art rebuked of him

For whom the Lord loveth he chastenethand scourgeth everyson whom he receiveth.

If ye endure chasteningGod dealeth with you as with sonsfor what son is he whom the father chasteneth not

But if ye be without chastisementwhereof all are partakersthen are ye bastardsand not sons.

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which correctedusand we gave them reverenceshall we not much rather be insubjection unto the Father of spiritsand live

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their ownpleasurebut he for our profitthat we might be partakers ofhis holiness.

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyousbutgrievousnevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceablefruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang downand the feebleknees

And make straight paths for your feetlest that which is lamebe turned out of the waybut let it rather be healed.

Follow peace with all menand holinesswithout which no manshall see the Lord

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of Godlestany root of bitterness springing up trouble youand therebymany be defiled

Lest there be any fornicatoror profane personas Esauwhofor one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

For ye know how that afterwardwhen he would have inheritedthe blessinghe was rejectedfor he found no place ofrepentancethough he sought it carefully with tears.

For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touchedandthat burned with firenor unto blacknessand darknessandtempest

And the sound of a trumpetand the voice of wordswhichvoice they that heard intreated that the word should not bespoken to them any more

For they could not endure that which was commandedAnd if somuch as a beast touch the mountainit shall be stonedorthrust through with a dart

And so terrible was the sightthat Moses saidI exceedinglyfear and quake

But ye are come unto mount Sionand unto the city of theliving Godthe heavenly Jerusalemand to an innumerablecompany of angels

To the general assembly and church of the firstbornwhich arewritten in heavenand to God the Judge of alland to thespirits of just men made perfect

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenantand to theblood of sprinklingthat speaketh better things than that ofAbel.

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escapednot who refused him that spake on earthmuch more shall notwe escapeif we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven

Whose voice then shook the earthbut now he hath promisedsayingYet once more I shake not the earth onlybut alsoheaven.

And this wordYet once moresignifieth the removing of thosethings that are shakenas of things that are madethat thosethings which cannot be shaken may remain.

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be movedlet ushave gracewhereby we may serve God acceptably with reverenceand godly fear

For our God is a consuming fire.
