Matthew Chapter 22

And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parablesandsaid

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain kingwhich madea marriage for his son

And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden tothe weddingand they would not come.

Againhe sent forth other servantssayingTell them whichare biddenBeholdI have prepared my dinnermy oxen and myfatlings are killedand all things are readycome unto themarriage.

But they made light of itand went their waysone to hisfarmanother to his merchandise

And the remnant took his servantsand entreated themspitefullyand slew them.

But when the king heard thereofhe was wrothand he sentforth his armiesand destroyed those murderersand burned uptheir city.

Then saith he to his servantsThe wedding is readybut theywhich were bidden were not worthy.

Go ye therefore into the highwaysand as many as ye shallfindbid to the marriage.

So those servants went out into the highwaysand gatheredtogether all as many as they foundboth bad and goodand thewedding was furnished with guests.

And when the king came in to see the guestshe saw there aman which had not on a wedding garment

And he saith unto himFriendhow camest thou in hither nothaving a wedding garmentAnd he was speechless.

Then said the king to the servantsBind him hand and foot and take him awayand cast him into outer darknessthereshall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

For many are calledbut few are chosen.

Then went the Phariseesand took counsel how they mightentangle him in his talk.

And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians sayingMasterwe know that thou art trueand teachest theway of God in truthneither carest thou for any manfor thouregardest not the person of men.

Tell us thereforeWhat thinkest thouIs it lawful to givetribute unto Caesaror not

But Jesus perceived their wickednessand saidWhy tempt yemeye hypocrites

Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

And he saith unto themWhose is this image andsuperscription

They say unto himCaesar s. Then saith he unto themRendertherefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar sand untoGod the things that are God s.

When they had heard these wordsthey marvelledand left himand went their way.

The same day came to him the Sadduceeswhich say that thereis no resurrectionand asked him

SayingMasterMoses saidIf a man diehaving no childrenhis brother shall marry his wifeand raise up seed unto hisbrother.

Now there were with us seven brethrenand the firstwhen hehad married a wifedeceasedandhaving no issueleft hiswife unto his brother

Likewise the second alsoand the thirdunto the seventh.

And last of all the woman died also.

Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of thesevenfor they all had her.

Jesus answered and said unto themYe do errnot knowing thescripturesnor the power of God.

For in the resurrection they neither marrynor are given inmarriagebut are as the angels of God in heaven.

But as touching the resurrection of the deadhave ye not readthat which was spoken unto you by Godsaying

I am the God of Abrahamand the God of Isaacand the God ofJacobGod is not the God of the deadbut of the living.

And when the multitude heard thisthey were astonished at hisdoctrine.

But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadduceesto silencethey were gathered together.

Then one of themwhich was a lawyerasked him a questiontempting himand saying

Masterwhich is the great commandment in the law

Jesus said unto himThou shalt love the Lord thy God with allthy heartand with all thy souland with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto itThou shalt love thy neighbouras thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

While the Pharisees were gathered togetherJesus asked them

SayingWhat think ye of Christwhose son is heThey sayunto himThe son of David.

He saith unto themHow then doth David in spirit call himLordsaying

The LORD said unto my LordSit thou on my right handtill Imake thine enemies thy footstool

If David then call him Lordhow is he his son

And no man was able to answer him a wordneither durst anyman from that day forth ask him any more questions.
