Peter Chapter 1

Simon Petera servant and an apostle of Jesus Christto themthat have obtained like precious faith with us through therighteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledgeof Godand of Jesus our Lord

According as his divine power hath given unto us all thingsthat pertain unto life and godlinessthrough the knowledge ofhim that hath called us to glory and virtue

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and preciouspromisesthat by these ye might be partakers of the divinenaturehaving escaped the corruption that is in the worldthrough lust.

And beside thisgiving all diligenceadd to your faithvirtueand to virtue knowledge

And to knowledge temperanceand to temperance patienceandto patience godliness

And to godliness brotherly kindnessand to brotherly kindnesscharity.

For if these things be in youand aboundthey make you thatye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge ofour Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacketh these things is blindand cannot see afaroffand hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Wherefore the ratherbrethrengive diligence to make yourcalling and election surefor if ye do these thingsye shallnever fall

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantlyinto the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour JesusChrist.

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always inremembrance of these thingsthough ye know themand beestablished in the present truth.

YeaI think it meetas long as I am in this tabernacletostir you up by putting you in remembrance

Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacleevenas our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my deceaseto have these things always in remembrance.

For we have not followed cunningly devised fableswhen wemade known unto you the power and coming of our Lord JesusChristbut were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

For he received from God the Father honour and glorywhenthere came such a voice to him from the excellent gloryThisis my beloved Sonin whom I am well pleased.

And this voice which came from heaven we heardwhen we werewith him in the holy mount.

We have also a more sure word of prophecywhereunto ye dowell that ye take heedas unto a light that shineth in a darkplaceuntil the day dawnand the day star arise in yourhearts

Knowing this firstthat no prophecy of the scripture is ofany private interpretation.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of manbutholy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
