Peter Chapter 3

This second epistlebelovedI now write unto youin bothwhich I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance

That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken beforeby the holy prophetsand of the commandment of us theapostles of the Lord and Saviour

Knowing this firstthat there shall come in the last daysscofferswalking after their own lusts

And sayingWhere is the promise of his comingfor since thefathers fell asleepall things continue as they were from thebeginning of the creation.

For this they willingly are ignorant ofthat by the word ofGod the heavens were of oldand the earth standing out of thewater and in the water

Whereby the world that then wasbeing overflowed with water perished

But the heavens and the earthwhich are nowby the same wordare kept in storereserved unto fire against the day ofjudgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Butbelovedbe not ignorant of this one thingthat one dayis with the Lord as a thousand yearsand a thousand years asone day.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promiseas some mencount slacknessbut is longsuffering to us wardnot willingthat any should perishbut that all should come torepentance.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the nightinthe which the heavens shall pass away with a great noiseandthe elements shall melt with fervent heatthe earth also andthe works that are therein shall be burned up.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolvedwhatmanner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation andgodliness

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of Godwherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolvedand theelements shall melt with fervent heat

Nevertheless weaccording to his promiselook for newheavens and a new earthwherein dwelleth righteousness.

Whereforebelovedseeing that ye look for such thingsbediligent that ye may be found of him in peacewithout spotand blameless.

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvationeven as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdomgiven unto him hath written unto you

As also in all his epistlesspeaking in them of these things in which are some things hard to be understoodwhich theythat are unlearned and unstable wrestas they do also theother scripturesunto their own destruction.

Ye thereforebelovedseeing ye know these things beforebeware lest ye alsobeing led away with the error of thewickedfall from your own stedfastness.

But grow in graceand in the knowledge of our Lord andSaviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever.Amen.
