Luke Chapter 10

1 After these things the LORD appointed other seventy alsoandsent them two and two before his face into every city andplacewhither he himself would come.

2 Therefore said he unto themThe harvest truly is greatbutthe labourers are fewpray ye therefore the Lord of theharvestthat he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

3 Go your waysbeholdI send you forth as lambs among wolves.

4 Carry neither pursenor scripnor shoesand salute no manby the way.

5 And into whatsoever house ye enterfirst sayPeace be tothis house.

6 And if the son of peace be thereyour peace shall rest uponitif notit shall turn to you again.

7 And in the same house remaineating and drinking such thingsas they givefor the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go notfrom house to house.

8 And into whatsoever city ye enterand they receive youeatsuch things as are set before you

9 And heal the sick that are thereinand say unto themThekingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

10 But into whatsoever city ye enterand they receive you notgo your ways out into the streets of the sameand say

11 Even the very dust of your citywhich cleaveth on uswe dowipe off against younotwithstanding be ye sure of thisthatthe kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

12 But I say unto youthat it shall be more tolerable in thatday for Sodomthan for that city.

13 Woe unto theeChorazinwoe unto theeBethsaidafor if themighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidonwhich have beendone in youthey had a great while ago repentedsitting insackcloth and ashes.

14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at thejudgmentthan for you.

15 And thouCapernaumwhich art exalted to heavenshalt bethrust down to hell.

16 He that heareth you heareth meand he that despiseth youdespiseth meand he that despiseth me despiseth him that sentme.

17 And the seventy returned again with joysayingLordeventhe devils are subject unto us through thy name.

18 And he said unto themI beheld Satan as lightning fall fromheaven.

19 BeholdI give unto you power to tread on serpents andscorpionsand over all the power of the enemyand nothingshall by any means hurt you.

20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice notthat the spirits aresubject unto youbut rather rejoicebecause your names arewritten in heaven.

21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spiritand saidI thank thee O FatherLord of heaven and earththat thou hast hid thesethings from the wise and prudentand hast revealed them untobabeseven soFatherfor so it seemed good in thy sight.

22 All things are delivered to me of my Fatherand no manknoweth who the Son isbut the Fatherand who the Father is but the Sonand he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23 And he turned him unto his disciplesand said privately Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see

24 For I tell youthat many prophets and kings have desired tosee those things which ye seeand have not seen themand tohear those things which ye hearand have not heard them.

25 Andbeholda certain lawyer stood upand tempted himsayingMasterwhat shall I do to inherit eternal life

26 He said unto himWhat is written in the lawhow readestthou

27 And he answering saidThou shalt love the Lord thy God withall thy heartand with all thy souland with all thystrengthand with all thy mindand thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto himThou hast answered rightthis doandthou shalt live.

29 But hewilling to justify himselfsaid unto JesusAnd whois my neighbour

30 And Jesus answering saidA certain man went down fromJerusalem to Jerichoand fell among thieveswhich strippedhim of his raimentand wounded himand departedleaving himhalf dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that wayandwhen he saw himhe passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levitewhen he was at the placecame andlooked on himand passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritanas he journeyedcame where he wasand when he saw himhe had compassion on him

34 And went to himand bound up his woundspouring in oil andwineand set him on his own beastand brought him to an inn and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departedhe took out two penceandgave them to the hostand said unto himTake care of him and whatsoever thou spendest morewhen I come againI willrepay thee.

36 Which now of these threethinkest thouwas neighbour untohim that fell among the thieves

37 And he saidHe that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus untohimGoand do thou likewise.

38 Now it came to passas they wentthat he entered into acertain villageand a certain woman named Martha received himinto her house.

39 And she had a sister called Marywhich also sat at Jesus feetand heard his word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much servingand came to him and saidLorddost thou not care that my sister hath left meto serve alonebid her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said unto herMarthaMarthathou artcareful and troubled about many things

42 But one thing is needfuland Mary hath chosen that good partwhich shall not be taken away from her.
