Luke Chapter 12
In the mean timewhen there were gathered together aninnumerable multitude of peopleinsomuch that they trode oneupon anotherhe began to say unto his disciples first of all Beware ye of the leaven of the Phariseeswhich is hypocrisy.
For there is nothing coveredthat shall not be revealed neither hidthat shall not be known.
Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heardin the lightand that which ye have spoken in the ear inclosets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
And I say unto you my friendsBe not afraid of them that killthe bodyand after that have no more that they can do.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fearFear himwhichafter he hath killed hath power to cast into hellyeaI sayunto youFear him.
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthingsand not one ofthem is forgotten before God
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fearnot thereforeye are of more value than many sparrows.
Also I say unto youWhosoever shall confess me before men him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels ofGod
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before theangels of God.
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of manitshall be forgiven himbut unto him that blasphemeth againstthe Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
And when they bring you unto the synagoguesand untomagistratesand powerstake ye no thought how or what thingye shall answeror what ye shall say
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what yeought to say.
And one of the company said unto himMasterspeak to mybrotherthat he divide the inheritance with me.
And he said unto himManwho made me a judge or a dividerover you
And he said unto themTake heedand beware of covetousness for a man s life consisteth not in the abundance of the thingswhich he possesseth.
And he spake a parable unto themsayingThe ground of acertain rich man brought forth plentifully
And he thought within himselfsayingWhat shall I dobecause I have no room where to bestow my fruits
And he saidThis will I doI will pull down my barnsandbuild greaterand there will I bestow all my fruits and mygoods.
And I will say to my soulSoulthou hast much goods laid upfor many yearstake thine easeeatdrinkand be merry.
But God said unto himThou foolthis night thy soul shall berequired of theethen whose shall those things bewhich thouhast provided
So is he that layeth up treasure for himselfand is not richtoward God.
And he said unto his disciplesTherefore I say unto youTakeno thought for your lifewhat ye shall eatneither for thebodywhat ye shall put on.
The life is more than meatand the body is more than raiment.
Consider the ravensfor they neither sow nor reapwhichneither have storehouse nor barnand God feedeth themhowmuch more are ye better than the fowls
And which of you with taking thought can add to his statureone cubit
If ye then be not able to do that thing which is leastwhytake ye thought for the rest
Consider the lilies how they growthey toil notthey spinnotand yet I say unto youthat Solomon in all his glory wasnot arrayed like one of these.
If then God so clothe the grasswhich is to day in the fieldand to morrow is cast into the ovenhow much more will heclothe youO ye of little faith
And seek not ye what ye shall eator what ye shall drinkneither be ye of doubtful mind.
For all these things do the nations of the world seek afterand your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of Godand all these thingsshall be added unto you.
Fear notlittle flockfor it is your Father s good pleasureto give you the kingdom.
Sell that ye haveand give almsprovide yourselves bagswhich wax not olda treasure in the heavens that faileth not where no thief approachethneither moth corrupteth.
For where your treasure isthere will your heart be also.
Let your loins be girded aboutand your lights burning
And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lordwhenhe will return from the weddingthat when he cometh andknockeththey may open unto him immediately.
Blessed are those servantswhom the lord when he cometh shallfind watchingverily I say unto youthat he shall girdhimselfand make them to sit down to meatand will comeforth and serve them.
And if he shall come in the second watchor come in the thirdwatchand find them soblessed are those servants.
And this knowthat if the goodman of the house had known whathour the thief would comehe would have watchedand not havesuffered his house to be broken through.
Be ye therefore ready alsofor the Son of man cometh at anhour when ye think not.
Then Peter said unto himLordspeakest thou this parableunto usor even to all
And the Lord saidWho then is that faithful and wise steward whom his lord shall make ruler over his householdto givethem their portion of meat in due season
Blessed is that servantwhom his lord when he cometh shallfind so doing.
Of a truth I say unto youthat he will make him ruler overall that he hath.
But and if that servant say in his heartMy lord delayeth hiscomingand shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens and to eat and drinkand to be drunken
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he lookethnot for himand at an hour when he is not awareand will cuthim in sunderand will appoint him his portion with theunbelievers.
And that servantwhich knew his lord s willand prepared nothimselfneither did according to his willshall be beatenwith many stripes.
But he that knew notand did commit things worthy of stripes shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much isgivenof him shall be much requiredand to whom men havecommitted muchof him they will ask the more.
I am come to send fire on the earthand what will Iif it bealready kindled
But I have a baptism to be baptized withand how am Istraitened till it be accomplished
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earthI tell youNaybut rather division
For from henceforth there shall be five in one house dividedthree against twoand two against three.
The father shall be divided against the sonand the sonagainst the fatherthe mother against the daughterand thedaughter against the motherthe mother in law against herdaughter in lawand the daughter in law against her mother inlaw.
And he said also to the peopleWhen ye see a cloud rise outof the weststraightway ye sayThere cometh a showerand soit is.
And when ye see the south wind blowye sayThere will beheatand it cometh to pass.
Ye hypocritesye can discern the face of the sky and of theearthbut how is it that ye do not discern this time
Yeaand why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right
When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrateasthou art in the waygive diligence that thou mayest bedelivered from himlest he hale thee to the judgeand thejudge deliver thee to the officerand the officer cast theeinto prison.
I tell theethou shalt not depart thencetill thou hast paidthe very last mite.
