Luke Chapter 18

And he spake a parable unto them to this endthat men oughtalways to prayand not to faint

SayingThere was in a city a judgewhich feared not Godneither regarded man

And there was a widow in that cityand she came unto himsayingAvenge me of mine adversary.

And he would not for a whilebut afterward he said withinhimselfThough I fear not Godnor regard man

Yet because this widow troubleth meI will avenge herlestby her continual coming she weary me.

And the Lord saidHear what the unjust judge saith.

And shall not God avenge his own electwhich cry day andnight unto himthough he bear long with them

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Neverthelesswhen the Son of man comethshall he find faith on the earth

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted inthemselves that they were righteousand despised others

Two men went up into the temple to praythe one a Phariseeand the other a publican.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himselfGodI thanktheethat I am not as other men areextortionersunjust adulterersor even as this publican.

I fast twice in the weekI give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publicanstanding afar offwould not lift up so muchas his eyes unto heavenbut smote upon his breastsayingGod be merciful to me a sinner.

I tell youthis man went down to his house justified ratherthan the otherfor every one that exalteth himself shall beabasedand he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

And they brought unto him also infantsthat he would touchthembut when his disciples saw itthey rebuked them.

But Jesus called them unto himand saidSuffer littlechildren to come unto meand forbid them notfor of such isthe kingdom of God.

Verily I say unto youWhosoever shall not receive the kingdomof God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

And a certain ruler asked himsayingGood Masterwhat shallI do to inherit eternal life

And Jesus said unto himWhy callest thou me goodnone isgoodsave onethat isGod.

Thou knowest the commandmentsDo not commit adulteryDo notkillDo not stealDo not bear false witnessHonour thyfather and thy mother.

And he saidAll these have I kept from my youth up.

Now when Jesus heard these thingshe said unto himYetlackest thou one thingsell all that thou hastanddistribute unto the poorand thou shalt have treasure inheavenand comefollow me.

And when he heard thishe was very sorrowfulfor he was veryrich.

And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowfulhe saidHowhardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom ofGod

For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle s eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

And they that heard it saidWho then can be saved

And he saidThe things which are impossible with men arepossible with God.

Then Peter saidLowe have left alland followed thee.

And he said unto themVerily I say unto youThere is no manthat hath left houseor parentsor brethrenor wifeorchildrenfor the kingdom of God s sake

Who shall not receive manifold more in this present timeandin the world to come life everlasting.

Then he took unto him the twelveand said unto themBehold we go up to Jerusalemand all things that are written by theprophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

For he shall be delivered unto the Gentilesand shall bemockedand spitefully entreatedand spitted on

And they shall scourge himand put him to deathand thethird day he shall rise again.

And they understood none of these thingsand this saying washid from themneither knew they the things which were spoken.

And it came to passthat as he was come nigh unto Jerichoacertain blind man sat by the way side begging

And hearing the multitude pass byhe asked what it meant.

And they told himthat Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

And he criedsayingJesusthou son of Davidhave mercy onme.

And they which went before rebuked himthat he should holdhis peacebut he cried so much the moreThou son of David have mercy on me.

And Jesus stoodand commanded him to be brought unto himandwhen he was come nearhe asked him

SayingWhat wilt thou that I shall do unto theeAnd he saidLordthat I may receive my sight.

And Jesus said unto himReceive thy sightthy faith hathsaved thee.

And immediately he received his sightand followed him glorifying Godand all the peoplewhen they saw itgavepraise unto God.
